DEPARTMENT: Operations

REPORTS TO: Operations Manager

FLSA STATUS: Full-time, Non-Exempt

THE ROLE

This position directs the operational tasks and sequences necessary to convert the Center interior configuration and supervises conversion staff. Responsible for cleanliness of the Center and surrounding grounds, working irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. Interacts with Management and oversees assigned functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides supervision and assures that all function rooms are set up in a timely manner as contracted by the sales department and outlined on the Function Orders.
  • Assigns duties for all Conversion staff.
  • Maintains a current department employee phone list.
  • Supervises the operation, training and cleanliness of supply vehicles, forklifts, snow blowers and man lift when related to the Operations Department.
  • Inspects and maintains general cleanliness of the facility and surrounding area.
  • Supervises snow removal and winter sanding of the exterior entrances and sidewalks.
  • Provides administrative support and supervision for all personnel working under his/her direction.
  • Checks the Operation Supervisor’s “In Box” daily to ensure all function orders, change sheets and floor plans are distributed to the crew and set up correctly.
  • Assumes responsibility of Manager on Duty for assigned functions.
  • Coordinates training of employees under his supervision with Operations Manager in regard to OSHA guidelines/requirements.
  • Assures that all Center storage areas are maintained in an orderly fashion and locked when not in use.
  • Reports to the Operations Manager on preventive maintenance of all department-related equipment and assures that all equipment is working safely and properly. Generates Work Orders and follows up on repair projects.
  • Attends regularly scheduled operational meetings.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all Legends Global policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing
  • Ability to understand and complete oral and written instructions
  • Ability to perform tasks without close supervision
  • Knowledge of cleaning equipment and supplies
  • High school diploma or GED desirable
  • Valid Alaska Driver's License

The above can be met by a combination of education and training or experience.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to understand, follow directions, and perform job functions under limited supervision.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and function in a fast-paced setting efficiently and safely.
  • Must be able to work under pressure, in time sensitive operations, in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements, knowledge of security and safety
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented with ability to oversee multiple assignments at one given time.
  • Dependable to work scheduled shift and varied schedule including weekends and holidays.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which will include weekends and holidays. Work hours may range from very early morning to late night. On rare occasion, must be able to work additional hours, weekends, overnight or extended stays, as business demands, with prior notice. Work is primarily indoors. Some outdoor work (such as snow removal and building maintenance) may be required. Environments may range from very warm to freezing. Work will be performed in many different areas of the Center and off-premise. Work will involve a considerable amount of walking throughout a 100,000 sq. ft. facility, lifting, and other high-exertion activities. Potentially dangerous chemicals and equipment will be encountered daily during the course of work. May require frequently lifting materials weighing up to 25-100 lbs. Must be able to work in a crowded, high-activity, high-demand environment. Flexibility is required, as to the ability to meet all requests upon demand. Duties require the use of considerable initiative, creativity, judgment, problem-solving, and working under minimal direction. Requires attention to detail, logical reasoning, ability to formulate ideas and opinions, ability to handle multiple priorities, ability to anticipate needs of the company, ability to implement short- and long-term solutions to needs, ability to plan and implement projects, ability to resolve customer service issues. Requires working under deadlines or pressure, dealing with difficult people or situations involving complex issues, and establishing and maintaining cooperative and productive work relationships. Must have outgoing, positive attitude in dealing with clientele and employees.
