UGL Defence has been awarded the Asset Management, Operations and Maintenance contract for the Defence Fuels Network (DFN)—a critical national infrastructure supporting Australia’s Defence capability.

We are seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to join our team supporting Australia’s Defence fuel infrastructure. This is a unique opportunity to work within a high-profile Defence environment, contributing directly to the operational readiness and national security of Australia.


About the role

Responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of Operating Services including fuel operations, fuel quality, fuel tanker and associated equipment operations as required by the DFN MCC and in accordance with the Operations Systems Plan (OSP) and required Defence documentation.

This role will be based RAAF Edinburgh and travelling across multiple DFI locations.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage the delivery of OA Services in accordance with DFN MCC contract and Annual Business Plans

  • Demonstrate strong financial awareness of OA budget performance through management of Labour and non-labour costs.

  • Work with the Superintendent to ensure timely and effective delivery of OA Services in accordance to Operating Services Plan.

  • Contribute to the Annual Business Plan development and reporting through the State Superintendent.

  • Monitor regional level compliance reviews for all fuel movements, testing and compliance for all relevant DFI’s.

  • Contribute to the delivery of Continuous Improvement and Efficiency Programs.

  • Identify and champion delivery of Value for Money (VFM) opportunities.

  • Be aware of and assist the Superintendent in Australian Industry Participation and Indigenous Participation.

  • Establish and maintain effective communication across the locations and with all local client stakeholders, including ensuing the OA’s remain fully informed on relevant issues and any communication to outside parties impacts positively on UGL.

  • Improve the performance and operation of the Regional DFI over the Term to optimise the Total Cost of Ownership.

  • Monitor and test the implementation and maintenance of security at all DFI.

  • Increase the operational resilience of the DFN to be able to respond to fuel supply demands and requirements to meet Defence's operational and preparedness needs.

  • Monitor and report on the Contractor's supply chain across all regional DFI locations in respect of the Services provided at those locations.

  • Monitor, review, consolidate and provide accurate information, data and reporting to the Superintendent on all aspects of the DFN and Services provided throughout the regional DFI’s.

About You

  • 10+ years’ experience in the Oil and Gas / Petrochemical industry leading in Operations management and delivery

  • Defence experience is an advantage

  • To meet Defence clearance requirements, applicants must hold Australian Citizenship.
