Job Description

This position is responsible for assisting in the operation of department. An individual in this position will be expected to perform additional job-related responsibilities and duties throughout the facility as assigned and or as necessary. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position leads construction of Building Automation projects, consisting of Data Center sites around Northern Virigina. This position manages direct reports such as but not limited to the Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers while also managing a portion of projects within the segment. The primary office location is Sterling, VA.

Essential Functions: An individual must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Mentor and train project managers to improve communication skills, customer relationships and conflict resolution.
  • Provide specific and timely Performance Management for all direct reports to include but not limited to SMART targets, reviews, feedback, training, mentoring, coaching.
  • Assess all direct reports against a standard of excellence and identify specific areas of improvement.
  • Forecast and track for accuracy all assigned project revenues.
  • Participate with sales team in project estimates prior to sales booking.
  • Ensure that the correct resources are identified and involved.
  • Maintain a current and thorough understanding of industry trends as they apply and incorporates these into AE’s offer portfolio and business strategy as appropriate.
  • Ensure that effective and efficient systems and standard operating procedures are in place to enable superior performance that will ultimately drive value for our clients.
  • Contribute to driving business development and retention objectives via technical capability, service excellence and education to internal and external clients and customers.
  • Drive employee engagement, training, and development in the key areas of safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Meet budgetary objectives and adjust project constraints based on financial analysis.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance across a range of federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Ensure that all quality and safety standards, specifications and policies are met, drive continuous improvements, and collaborate with the team to drive efficiencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field preferred, however, an equivalent combination of education and experience (High School Diploma or GED equivalent a minimum requirement) will also be considered.
  • Must have at least 5 years of experience managing Building Automation construction projects.
  • Familiarity with the Automated Logic product line is preferred. High level comprehension of Building Automation Systems is required.
  • Supervisory Experience: 3-5 years’ experience leading, coaching and mentoring direct reports.
  • Previous experience in vertical markets, including Higher Education, Healthcare and federal government.
  • Understanding of Microsoft systems (Office, Dynamics/AX, CRM).
  • Has previously written BAS programming from start and can troubleshoot programming as needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills; high quality document control.
  • Commitment to “open door” and comfort with production floor presence and contact with all field employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach managers and supervisors to use company practices for maximum effectiveness.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills; high quality document and report preparation.
  • Experience working in an entrepreneurial environment requiring strong multi-tasking abilities.

Salary Range: $120k-$150k DOE.
