The Well Superintendent is responsible for leading and overseeing the execution of well operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of drilling, intervention, completion, and integrated service projects. Acting as the primary operational authority, this role ensures the effective mobilization of personnel, equipment, and services while driving operational excellence, risk management, and client satisfaction. The position serves as a key interface between Engineering, HSE, Quality, Logistics, Supply Chain, Product Lines, and Project Management teams to ensure successful project execution and delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage day-to-day well operations, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, operational, and performance standards.
- Coordinate the allocation of Well Site Supervisors and operational resources according to project complexity and client requirements.
- Ensure timely mobilization and demobilization of personnel, equipment, and services to minimize operational delays and non-productive time.
- Conduct operational readiness reviews prior to project execution, confirming the availability of personnel, equipment, procedures, and risk assessments.
- Coordinate with Product Lines, third-party service providers, Logistics, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to ensure operational readiness and execution efficiency.
- Lead daily operational meetings to review ongoing activities, critical issues, and upcoming operational requirements.
- Oversee critical wellsite activities, ensuring adherence to approved procedures, technical requirements, and company standards.
- Manage operational incidents, NPT events, and HSE-related issues, supporting investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.Serve as the primary operational interface with the client, fostering strong relationships and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Monitor operational performance metrics, including safety, cost control, mobilization efficiency, operational delivery, and service quality.
- Support project closeout activities, lessons learned reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Mentor and develop Well Site Supervisors and operational personnel, supporting succession planning and capability development.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, HSE standards, quality requirements, and operational excellence initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience in drilling, well intervention, completion, or integrated well services operations within the oil and gas industry.
- Proven experience leading field operations, supervising multidisciplinary teams, and coordinating complex operational activities.
- Strong knowledge of operational planning, logistics coordination, resource management, and cost control.
- Experience managing client relationships and serving as a key operational focal point.
- Solid understanding of HSE, quality assurance, and risk management principles.
- Experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong leadership, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced and high-pressure operational environments.
- Availability to travel and support field operations as required.
- Must be available to work full-time on-site at Weatherford's Ciudad del Carmen base.
- Intermediate to advanced English proficiency preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
- Intermediate Microsoft Project skills.
- Power BI knowledge is desirable.
