Position Operations Specialist – Secure Element Production

Projectand Operational Environment
The role supports the prototype and serial production of secure hardware elements in the form of USB tokens for a security-sensitive digitalisation programme.
The operational environment includes the production of certificate carriers, the management of incoming materials and customer orders, the operation of a dedicated production line, and the controlled dispatch of completed secure elements.
The production facility is operated in a restricted on-site environment in Bonn. Up to approximately 10,000 USB tokens may be processed annually.
Responsibilities
The Operations Specialist will be responsible for:
- Supporting the production of secure USB tokens in accordance with defined delivery obligations.
- Receiving deliveries from manufacturers and suppliers.
- Checking incoming goods for completeness, correctness, quantity, and visible damage.
- Registering, inventorying, and storing delivered USB tokens.
- Recording and processing orders received from authorised customer depots or internal requestors.
- Producing secure elements using the available production line.
- Following defined production procedures, work instructions, and security requirements.
- Checking completed orders against delivery notes and order documentation.
- Packaging finished secure elements securely and accurately.
- Preparing completed orders for dispatch.
- Transferring packaged orders to the responsible mail or logistics function.
- Maintaining inventory records and stock lists.
- Ensuring accurate traceability of incoming materials, production quantities, completed orders, and dispatched items.
- Supporting technical colleagues in maintaining and operating the production line.
- Reporting production issues, discrepancies, defective items, or process deviations.
- Contributing suggestions for the improvement of production processes, tools, documentation, and operational workflows.
- Supporting the implementation of approved process improvements together with technical specialists and service architects.
- Ensuring that all production, inventory, and dispatch activities are documented completely and correctly.
Required Qualifications
The candidate should have:
- At least two years of practical experience using standard office and computer applications.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and comparable office tools.
- At least one year of experience working with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
- At least one year of professional experience in warehouse operations, inventory management, logistics, order processing, or a comparable operational environment.
- Basic understanding of structured production or fulfilment processes.
- Experience handling physical goods, inventories, delivery documentation, and shipment preparation.
Formal IT or technical training is advantageous but not mandatory, provided that the candidate can demonstrate the required practical experience.
Preferred Experience
The following experience would be advantageous:
- Production of identity cards, access cards, smart cards, security tokens, certificates, or comparable personalised media.
- Work in controlled, security-sensitive, or highly regulated operational environments.
- Experience operating a standardised production line.
- Experience processing high-volume, repetitive production orders.
- Experience with barcode systems, inventory tools, warehouse applications, or production tracking systems.
- Experience maintaining auditable stock and delivery records.
- Experience handling confidential or security-relevant materials.

Language Requirements

Working Conditions
- The role requires 100% on-site presence in Bonn
- Remote work is not available.
- The candidate must be able and willing to work continuously in a controlled production environment.
- Daily activities may involve receiving, storing, producing, checking, packaging, and dispatching physical items.
- The work requires consistent concentration, accurate documentation, and careful handling of security-sensitive products.
Security-Related Requirements
- No formal security clearance is currently required for the assignment.
- Candidate profiles must nevertheless include nationality information.
- Applicable security-related country-list restrictions must be observed.
- Country-specific restrictions may apply because of the sensitive operational environment, even where no formal security clearance is required.
