Job Description

Citi is looking for an experienced Operations Senior Manager to lead a high-performing team delivering client onboarding and commercial banking operations at scale. In this role, you will drive the quality, efficiency, and compliance of critical operations processes, acting as a subject matter expert and senior decision-maker within Citi's Operations function. This is a senior leadership opportunity where your judgment, operational expertise, and people management skills will directly shape team performance and client outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a professional operations team by delegating responsibilities effectively, maintaining appropriate staffing levels, and ensuring the team consistently delivers high-quality outcomes.
  • Oversee the end-to-end quality and efficiency of team output, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions that enhance operational performance.
  • Manage the full employee lifecycle for direct reports, including performance evaluations, compensation decisions, hiring, and where necessary, disciplinary actions.
  • Develop and manage team budgets, shape operational policy, and coordinate short-term resource planning to meet business demands.
  • Resolve complex and high-impact operational issues, applying deep knowledge of how the team's work integrates across the broader function to deliver coordinated solutions.
  • Act as a subject matter expert to senior stakeholders, providing evaluative judgment in ambiguous or high-complexity situations to guide sound business decisions.
  • Uphold regulatory and compliance standards by ensuring all procedures are followed, risks are appropriately assessed, and any control issues are escalated and resolved with transparency.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 14 to 20 years of experience in financial services, with a background in operations management and a working knowledge of commercial banking processes.
  • Extensive knowledge of client onboarding processes, including account opening, account maintenance, and Anti-Money Laundering requirements for commercial liability accounts.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams in a fast-paced environment, with proven skills in prioritization and meeting critical deadlines under pressure.
  • Strong organizational and time management capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously without loss of quality or accuracy.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy, exercising independent judgment while maintaining accountability to organizational standards and risk frameworks.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

  • Commercial banking experience, particularly in areas related to commercial liability products or client-facing operations.
  • Familiarity with Know Your Customer platforms, workforce management tools, or document management systems used in financial services operations.
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
