Pay Range: $93,700.00 - $95,000.00 Annually

WHO YOU ARE:
You lead enterprise level risk and control monitoring initiatives by designing, documenting, and continuously strengthening first line controls that mitigate operational, compliance, and reputational risk while aligning with Golden 1 Credit Union’s risk appetite, strategic goals, and regulatory expectations. You are a strategic risk and governance leader who leverages data, analytics, and control monitoring frameworks to evaluate control effectiveness, track key risk indicators, and drive proactive, risk based decisions that enhance operational integrity, efficiency, and the member and employee experience. You partner cross functionally across Service Operations, Compliance, Enterprise Risk Management, and Internal Audit to translate risk insights, audit outcomes, and regulatory requirements into scalable, sustainable control strategies, while developing and empowering a high performing team that delivers consistent, high impact results.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
• Under the guidance of the Sr Manager of Service Operations Governance & Quality Assurance, design, develop, and maintain the Service Operations First Line Control Monitoring Program.
• Identify and document controls across Service Operations, map applicable laws and regulations, identify control gaps, and recommend options to mitigate risk exposure.
• Maintain a continuous Control Monitoring Program by establishing risk based monitoring frequencies and evaluating control effectiveness to minimize inherent risks and achieve acceptable residual risk levels.
• Review business processes, programs, and procedural documentation to ensure controls are clearly documented and capable of supporting risk ratings for key documentation.
• Manage control monitoring reporting, including identifying, tracking, and analyzing Key Risk Indicators (KRI) and Key Surveillance Points (KSP) to support risk analysis, decision making, and prioritization.
• Partner closely with the Service Operations Quality Assurance Program to enhance the effectiveness and alignment of quality and control monitoring activities.
• Support and participate in risk assessments, reviews, audits, and examinations conducted by Compliance, Enterprise Risk Management, and Internal Audit.
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by leveraging subject matter expertise to strengthen controls, collaborating with business leaders, and clearly communicating business impacts to mitigate risk.
• Promote risk and control awareness across the organization by establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with business line analysts and functional stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain an in depth understanding of regulatory requirements and inherent risks within Service Operations and establish control activities that ensure compliance and operational integrity consistent with the Credit Union’s risk appetite.
• Identify and pursue opportunities for continuous improvement, innovation, and modernization within risk and control monitoring practices.
• Manage a team of individual contributors by balancing workloads, monitoring timeliness of deliverables, and ensuring departmental efficiency and effectiveness.
• Recruit, coach, and develop talent to maintain a high performing organization that keeps resources productively engaged in advancing business objectives.
• Foster a positive, engaging, and inclusive work environment by promoting skill development, coaching for growth, inspiring others through actions and leadership, and reinforcing Golden 1’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
• Demonstrate strong leadership qualities, sound judgment, and critical thinking in managing daily operations as well as supporting strategic initiatives.
• Perform additional duties as required to support Service Operations, including ad hoc risk analysis, deep dive investigations, and targeted risk and control initiatives.
• Develop and maintain an understanding of the pertinent regulatory requirements and risks inherent to job responsibilities, establish, and maintain control activities that mitigate those risks consistent with the Credit Union’s risk appetite, and ensure operational integrity and compliance with applicable regulations.

QUALIFICIATIONS AND PREFERENCES:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred
• Additional work experience may be considered if individual demonstrates skill level appropriate to the position
• 8+ years of related experience with disciplines noted above with emphasis on risk and control, regulatory compliance and governance required.
• 4+ years of prior quality assurance/control/review experience, preferably in financial institutions.
• 3+ years of leadership experience or responsibility in supervisory roles and duties.
• Experience in related financial institution experience strongly encouraged.
