About the Role :
The Operations Planner 2, like the Operations Planner 1, is responsible for providing quality customer service for both internal and external contacts by completing the required production control activities including production control, account management, inventory management, and performance analysis as defined under the primary functions. However, the Operations Planner 2 has advanced skills, years of experience and the ability to handle escalated situations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Develops accurate engineering masters and update BOM’s as required based on input from technical resources.
• Enters customer orders and schedule production work orders.
• Maintains appropriate inventory levels to support customer relationships by managing the Kanban and SMI inventory programs established.
• Maintains schedule to reflect optimal production plan by balancing customer needs, equipment, labor & material availability.
• Verifies pricing on orders compared to estimates; update pricing as needed ensuring profitability is maintained.
• Communicates customer needs to production, shipping, and QA ensuring customer satisfaction goals are met.
• Prepares shipping documentation including accurate BOL with any other required shipping documents.
• Maintains and build positive relationships with existing and new customers; provide feedback from customer interactions to the Teel organization.
• Reviews the results of customer surveys and seek positive resolutions to customer concerns.
• Documents customer complaints in the feedback system and assist in the resolution of the CPAR; provide any necessary customer follow-up and coordinate any customer returns.
• Schedules NPPD/sales trials and development projects as needed.
• Gathers and inputs annual forecast data.
• Communicates customer’s needs to the Cell and internal support departments.
• Monitors inventory and takes timely action on aged or obsolete inventory.
• Reviews inventory turns and schedules to ensure maximum inventory rotation.
• Reviews manufacturing variance reports for BOM accuracy in rate, labor, and material.
• Data mines information to support operations initiatives.
• Analyzes performance history and recommends and/or lead continuous improvement projects to drive performance improvements.
• Research’s BOM/WO discrepancies by reviewing completed work orders making corrections as required.
• Reviews BOMs against actual performance and update as needed.
• Provides data mining and analysis support to drive improvements and change within the organization.
• Participates in designated training and development classes.
• Identifies areas for procedural/reporting improvements.
• Analyzes various tools such as the production schedule and MRP report to determine material requirements.
• Releases purchase orders and expedite materials as required.
• Resolves inventory issues and transactions.
• Additional project as assigned by supervisor.
What You Need:
• Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, logistics, required.
• 4 or more years’ experience in customer service, production planning and/or purchasing experience in a business-to-business or manufacturing environment.
• Needs to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft outlook, word, excel, and PowerPoint including;
• Proficiency in excel is defined by the ability to do multiple calculations in a spreadsheet
• Proficiency of PowerPoint requires to the ability to develop a presentation
• Proficiency of Word requires the ability to write business correspondence and use tables
• Advanced experience with computer-based systems (i.e., order entry, distribution, manufacturing).
• The ability to lead a problem-solving team.
• Experience making formal presentations to management.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills with the ability to analyze data and make decisions based on the available information.
• This position involves some degree of critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Organized, detail-oriented person that is capable of handling multiple priorities.
• Repetitive tasks such as order entry are required. Tasks require exceptional accuracy when completed each day.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a can-do attitude.
• Strong communications skills (verbal and written) with ability to create strong relationships.
