Job Description

✈️ Looking for Purpose… and a Desk with a Runway View?

12-Month Paid Mission Experience Placement | Operations Officer | Arnhem Land, NT

Looking for a year that’s a little different? Ready to use your admin, customer service, and organisational skills for something bigger than business as usual?

Join Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) for a 12-month paid Mission Experience Placement in one of Australia’s most extraordinary and remote locations… Arnhem Land, Northern Territory Think rugged escarpments, tropical waterfalls, red dirt airstrips, rich Indigenous culture, and a community where your work genuinely matters. It’s beautiful. It’s remote. It’s challenging in all the best ways. And it’s a place where you’ll experience mission life from the inside.

🛩️ Who Are We?

For over 75 years, MAF has been flying help, hope, and healing to some of the world’s most isolated communities. Operating across 30+ countries, our aircraft connect people to healthcare, education, community services, and practical support where roads simply don’t go.

And in Arnhem Land, we’ve been partnering with remote Indigenous communities for more than 45 years, where aviation isn’t just convenient… it’s a lifeline

🙌 What’s the Opportunity?

We’re looking for an Operations Officer to help keep our mission moving. This isn’t your average desk job. You’ll be the friendly voice answering calls, the organiser behind flight bookings, and the steady hand helping customers, passengers, pilots, and operational teams stay connected.

Note: This position is only open to applicants with current Australian work rights due to immigration restrictions. A Criminal History Check will form part of the recruitment process for successful applicants.

  • Assisting with freight, passenger check-in, and aircraft loading
  • Processing payments, invoices, and operational finance tasks
  • Communicating schedule updates, delays, and operational changes
  • Working closely with pilots and the operations team to keep flights running smoothly

Placement Details:

  • Starts: Oct 2026

  • Must be 18+ years old

  • Accommodation and daily transport provided by MAF Arnhem Land

Mission Aviation Fellowship

About Mission Aviation Fellowship

Mission Aviation Fellowship was founded in 1945 by a group of WWII pilots who had a vision for how aviation could be used to help spread the Gospel.

Since those early days, we have been an indispensable partner and servant to some 500 Christian organizations, humanitarian agencies, and more. We enable and maximize evangelism and church nurturing, medical assistance, disaster response, and community development, as well as the training and development of indigenous people.

Using aviation, we desire to see isolated people changed by the love of Christ by serving together to bring help, hope, and healing. We meet the physical and spiritual needs of isolated people in 42 countries throughout Asia, Africa, Eurasia and Latin America, operating a fleet of 47 light aircraft. Dedicated missionary families raise their own ministry support to serve as the hands and feet of Christ to those in need.
