Class Definition

Duties/Job Responsibilities:

To perform a wide range of office functions, including but not limited to the following: data entry; document scanning; records maintenance; quality control of electronic court case files; assisting clerks in courtrooms; and performing customer service functions for attorneys, litigants and members of the general public. May be called upon to perform telephone duties, mail functions, record retrieval, filing, and any other related duties as may be assigned by the Clerk of the Court or his/her designee.

Must be available to work in any of four county locations.

Required Experience:

Such as may have been gained through graduation from an accredited senior high school; college degree a plus. Must have the capacity to perform a variety of functions in the court’s electronic filing and case management systems. Computer experience required; detail-oriented; ability to work with minimal supervision; ability to multitask; strong verbal and written communication skills, customer service experience a plus; ability to take assignments and carry them through to completion; or any combination of education and experience equivalent to the above.

Also, be advised that a new provision in RI General Law 35-6-1 was enacted requiring direct deposit for all employees. Specific to new hires, the law requires that all employees hired after September 30, 2014 participate in direct deposit. Accordingly, any employee hired after this date will be required to participate in the direct deposit system. At the time the employee is hired, the employee shall identify a financial institution that will serve as a personal depository agency for the employee.
