This position is responsible for planning and coordinating activities related to background checks as required by Florida Statutes.
Responsible for all supervisory duties including, but not limited to, hiring and selection, developing performance plans, conducting performance appraisals, planning and directing their work, approving leave, and taking disciplinary action as appropriate.
Supervises staff responsible for conducting background checks by assigning work, reviewing progress and assessing performance. Confers with personnel to ensure successful functioning of newly implemented systems or procedures. Ensure staff are trained and prepared to process background screening.
Reviews outgoing letters and monthly invoices to ensure the accuracy of information provided, grammar, and spelling.
Ensures proper legal review of additional information related to criminal history findings to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations to meet the minimum requirements for employment with a treatment center or testing laboratory.
Evaluates and analyzes problems and procedures. Documents findings,prepares recommendations for and assists with the implementation of new systems, procedures, or organizational changes.
Interprets related laws, rules, policies and/or regulations.
Other duties as assigned.
Proficient computer skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; knowledge of computer data bases; knowledge and use of the compliance management system and licensing system used by the Agency; knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures and government rules & regulations; knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar; understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents; communicating effectively with others in writing; listening to what other people are saying and asking questions as appropriate; investigating and researching; knowing how to find information and identifying essential information; finding ways to structure or classify multiple pieces of information; using logic and analysis to identify the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches; organizational skills; effectively manage time; communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; make sound judgments; interpret, understand and apply applicable rules, regulations and policies and procedures; ability to maintain strict confidentiality; ability to travel; motivating, developing, and directing people as they work, identifying the best people for the job.
High school diploma or equivalent AND
One year leadership experience AND
Two years professional experience in reviewing and auditing documents for specific criteria (preference given to documents related to background screening) AND
Two years professional experience in applying state and federal statutes, rules or policies and procedures related to background screening regulations
A valid Driver's License, participation in direct deposit, satisfactorily complete a background investigation, and fingerprinting are requirements for employment.
