Parsons is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our team, supporting a major freight rail infrastructure and operations program
Lead day-to-day rail operations, ensuring adherence to operational plans, schedules, and performance targets across the freight rail network.
Oversee the work of operations control personnel, station operations teams, and operational support units.
Ensure compliance with operational safety procedures, rules, and regulations for all rail activities.
Manage operational readiness activities, including procedures, training, simulations, and commissioning support.
Monitor and optimize service performance, punctuality, headways, and network resilience.
Coordinate with maintenance, engineering, systems, rolling stock, and depot teams to support seamless operational flow.
Lead operational incident response, recovery coordination, and post-incident analysis.
Manage operational documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), rulebooks, and emergency response protocols.
Support the development of timetables, rostering plans, and operational resource allocation.
Prepare operational performance reports, KPIs, dashboards, and updates for senior management.
Promote a strong operational safety culture and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Support integration with freight rail operational requirements, including access planning, interface management, and network capacity considerations.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Transportation Management, Operations, or a related discipline.
Minimum 10 years of experience in rail operations or major transportation systems, including freight rail operations or infrastructure projects
Experience as an Operations Manager (or equivalent leadership role) on at least one major rail project of similar size and complexity.
Strong knowledge of operating rules, control systems, operational safety standards, and service delivery processes.
Demonstrated experience with operations control centers, operational readiness, and incident management.
Strong understanding of rail operations, service planning, and operational safety frameworks.
Excellent leadership and team coordination skills in a high-paced rail environment.
Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex operational challenges.
Proficiency in operational planning tools, procedures, and reporting, with ability to interface across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
