You'll drive operational excellence across our network by fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement while empowering your team to succeed.

Key job responsibilities

- Support, mentor, and develop your salaried and hourly team members, providing them with the tools and guidance they need to succeed in their roles
- Lead projects with site and regional impact, working collaboratively with other leaders to implement solutions that drive business objectives
- Build and execute productivity plans by analyzing forecasts, determining staffing requirements, and coordinating with regional partners to balance workload effectively
- Manage safety, quality, productivity, and on-time customer delivery by monitoring key metrics and taking corrective action when needed
- Partner with support teams across Safety, Engineering, Loss Prevention, Quality Assurance, and Human Resources to develop and implement plans that meet operational goals

International Training Requirement:
This role requires mandatory international training for the first 4 weeks, with the possibility of extension up to 6 months where operationally required. Successful candidates must be willing and able to be based outside of South Africa for the duration of their training period. Support with travel and accommodation arrangements will be provided. A valid passport and willingness to travel internationally are essential requirements for this position.

A day in the life
As an Operations Manager, you'll spend your day engaging with your team across our fulfillment operations, which span three critical phases: first mile (product storage and preparation), middle mile (order transport), and last mile (customer delivery). You'll review performance metrics and forecasts to optimize productivity, collaborate with cross-functional partners including Safety, Engineering, and Human Resources to solve operational challenges, and mentor your team members to help them grow in their roles. You might lead a project to streamline processes, conduct safety briefings, or work with regional leaders to balance workload distribution. Your focus remains constant: ensuring customers receive their orders on time, every time, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.

About Amazon

Amazon is guided by four principles: customer obsession rather than competitor focus, passion for invention, commitment to operational excellence, and long-term thinking. We are driven by the excitement of building technologies, inventing products, and providing services that change lives. We embrace new ways of doing things, make decisions quickly, and are not afraid to fail. We have the scope and capabilities of a large company, and the spirit and heart of a small one.

Together, Amazonians research and develop new technologies from Amazon Web Services to Alexa on behalf of our customers: shoppers, sellers, content creators, and developers around the world.

Our mission is to be Earth's most customer-centric company. Our actions, goals, projects, programs, and inventions begin and end with the customer top of mind.

You'll also hear us say that at Amazon, it's always "Day 1." What do we mean? That our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon's very first day - to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and focus on delighting our customers.
