We are now looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join the leadership team at Mergon Corporation.

The opportunity

This is a key leadership role with responsibility for the performance and ongoing development of our manufacturing operations.

You will lead across Production, Production Scheduling, Maintenance, Tooling, Engineering, Technical Resources and Continuous Improvement, bringing these areas together to deliver safe, reliable and efficient operations.

You will have a strong focus on Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity and Cost, while developing our people, strengthening our processes and ensuring we make the best use of our equipment and capital.

What you’ll do

  • Lead day-to-day manufacturing operations and drive strong operational performance.
  • Build a culture where safety, quality and continuous improvement are part of how we work every day.
  • Lead and develop teams across Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Tooling and Technical functions.
  • Improve productivity, equipment reliability and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Drive Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma and other continuous improvement activities.
  • Strengthen production planning and ensure customer delivery requirements are achieved.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance, equipment reliability and capital projects.
  • Manage operational budgets and maintain strong control of labor, material and maintenance costs.
  • Use data and operational KPIs to identify issues, solve problems and drive improvement.
  • Coach and develop the team, building capability and succession for the future.
  • Work closely with other functions and the wider leadership team to deliver Mergon’s business objectives.

What we’re looking for

You’ll be an experienced manufacturing leader who is equally comfortable leading people, solving operational problems and driving performance.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • 10+ years’ leadership experience in a manufacturing operations environment.
  • Experience across production, maintenance, engineering, tooling and continuous improvement.
  • Strong knowledge of safety, quality and environmental standards, including OSHA, EPA and ISO.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen or similar methodologies.
  • A track record of improving productivity, reducing downtime and managing cost.
  • Strong financial and commercial awareness.
  • Experience of preventive maintenance, equipment reliability and capital investment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management or a related discipline is preferred.
