Job Description

Job Title (Job Code): Operations Manager (Services) – IN-ES-01

The Operations Manager is responsible for managing the following within their scope of activity:

  • Ensure contractual availability targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently achieved through execution of the approved Fleet Management Plan, supported by effective planning and efficient allocation of resources.
  • Ensure trains are delivered in accordance with the operating schedule and service level agreements, meeting all safety, cleanliness, and operational readiness requirements.

Lead, direct, and oversee operational staff and supervisory teams to achieve defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to equipment reliability, availability, maintainability, and safe system performance.

Operational Leadership & Service Delivery

  • Manage day-to-day operations by overseeing operational teams to ensure train availability, reliability, and compliance with railway safety requirements.
  • Develop and manage work schedules and task assignments to ensure the APM fleet is maintained in accordance with established maintenance programs and required inspection intervals.
  • Plan, prioritize, and oversee operational workloads, ensuring the Operations Team assigns qualified personnel to complete technical repairs, preventive maintenance inspections, and special projects safely and on schedule.
  • Manage reactive operational issues while simultaneously leading long-term process improvement initiatives to sustain operational performance and drive continuous improvement.

Safety, Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure organizational processes comply with applicable regulations, Alstom standards, and AZDP safety requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve operational policies and procedures to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Monitor fleet performance and repair effectiveness by auditing completed work, observing maintenance practices, and evaluating staff performance to ensure quality, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Continuous Improvement & Performance Optimization

  • Optimize operational workflows and lead organizational change initiatives to improve efficiency, reliability, and overall workforce productivity through continuous improvement and effective communication.
  • Integrate new technologies and business processes to enhance operational performance as required.

Cross-Functional Coordination & Stakeholder Alignment

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align operational activities with organizational and contractual objectives.

Educational Requirements

Mandatory:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desirable:

Mandatory:

  • Minimum of 8 to 10 years of total operations-related experience, including at least 5 to 8 years within the railway industry or a comparable technical environment.
  • Experience with, or a strong understanding of, automated people mover (APM) operations, maintenance programs, and repair processes within an airport or rail environment.

Desirable:

  • Demonstrated resilience and adaptability to work in dynamic operational or shop environments and meet demanding operational deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar tools for data analysis, reporting, and performance tracking.

  • Proficient in standard business IT tools, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrates alignment with AIR values and organizational principles.
  • Fluent in English
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, with the ability to motivate, guide, and develop teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, particularly in complex and time-sensitive operational environments.
  • Highly organized and logical, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills across technical, operational, and leadership levels.
