Operations Manager, Kolwezi, DRC – M/F

Context:

Gladys Synergies is recruiting on behalf of an international mining company developing a copper mining project in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

As mining activities commence, the company is establishing a technical operations team responsible for coordinating the daily movement of people, equipment and material across the site. The Operations Manager will ensure that mining, haulage, logistics, dispatch and site services operate efficiently and safely.

Missions & Responsibilities:

• Coordinate daily operations across mining areas, stockpiles, haul routes, weighbridges, processing interfaces and dispatch activities.
• Manage daily priorities and ensure operational constraints, breakdowns, delays and critical actions are addressed quickly.
• Monitor ore movements, truck utilisation, cycle times, destinations and dispatch data to maintain accurate production tracking.
• Coordinate transport and mining contractors, monitoring equipment availability, productivity, attendance and compliance with operating standards.
• Maintain safe and efficient site access through effective control of roads, drainage, traffic flow, loading areas and key site services.
• Produce clear daily and weekly operational reports covering production, movements, delays, incidents, risks and actions.
• Work closely with mining, geology, processing, security, community and commercial teams to ensure smooth coordination across the operation.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Mining, Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations Management or equivalent; a strong higher diploma may be considered with substantial relevant experience.
• Minimum 8 years of mining or heavy industrial operations experience, including at least 4 years in a senior site-based role.
• Proven mining operations experience is essential, particularly involving haulage, dispatch, equipment coordination and high-volume production environments.
• Strong contractor management, operational reporting and logistics coordination skills.
• Previous experience in the DRC, the Copperbelt or another frontier African mining environment is strongly preferred.
• Copper mining experience is an advantage, but strong mining operations experience is the primary requirement for this position.
• Fluent English is required; French is highly advantageous.
