Department Overview

Ad Sales Department is a division dedicated to providing Rakuten Group's "Marketing Solutions" to advertisers.

Specifically, it is a sales organization that addresses advertisers' challenges by combining:
Rakuten data based on approximately 100 million Rakuten member IDs.
Rakuten media spanning about 70 services.
AI incorporating the latest technology.

Regarding point 1, Rakuten data based on approximately 100 million Rakuten member IDs, we have recently been focusing on expanding not only online but also offline data. We have also started providing targeting and measurement services utilizing "offline purchase data." This enables us to offer integrated "solutions" that combine online and offline aspects.

Regarding point 2, Rakuten media, which encompasses about 70 services, handles a wide range of "user communications" including not only display advertisements but also email advertisements, sampling advertisements, and direct mail advertisements. This allows for a "multi-faceted approach" to reach appropriate users.

Regarding point 3, in terms of AI, we have recently developed technology to predict "future purchasers" and have commenced offering advertisements based on this. This enables us to improve the effectiveness for advertisers who prioritize performance.

Ad Sales Department will continue to provide "unique" solutions in the digital advertising industry that can only be realized within the Rakuten Group.

As Operation Section, we manage tasks related to advertising placement. Specifically, we have three key roles.
1.Review and Estimation Direction: Directing various reviews and estimations linked to the sales process, as well as handling registration tasks.
2.Campaign Management and Creative Direction: Managing the progress of tie-up campaigns and directing creative production.
3.Event Sponsorship Sales Support: Concluding contracts related to sponsorship sales for Rakuten-hosted events, overseeing production progress, and providing event operation follow-up.

Position Details


- Sales assistance / creative direction / campaign management / event sponsorship-related operations for advertising solution sales.
- Improvement of the above operations / people management

Sales Assist: Various review registration, quotation acquisition, order registration, ad manuscript review progress, client checkback

Creative Direction: Understanding submissions ~ Creating schedules and composition plans, ordering and directing production companies, setting up internal systems, reviewing ad manuscripts and progressing production

Campaign Management: Understanding submissions ~ Campaign scheme design / proposal, prize review registration, campaign summary creation, ordering and directing to vendors

Event Sponsorship Related: Preparation of sales materials, promotion of menus, legal review of contracts, order registration, booth exhibition follow-up

Business execution, improvement, management: Practical Measures ~ Planning and Implementing Improvement Measures, Quality, KPI Management

Work Environment

Organizational Structure
- The entire advertising sales department will be about 65 people. Mainly Sales Division, Planning Division, Operations Division. (as of February, 26)

- This position section consists of 18 people. (as of February, 26)

- The ratio of mid-career employees and new graduates is 9:1

- As a mid-career employee, the advertising industry is the main industry, but we have been participating in a wide range of industries in IT and WEB fields.

Example Career Path

- 1-3 years: Assistant manager or manager (after 10 names, management of multiple teams)

- 4-6 years: Senior Manager (30 names, management of multiple groups)

- Others: There is a flexible assignment environment according to the career plan, such as transfer by applying for open positions in other businesses within Rakuten.

Mandatory Qualifications:

- Service experience 5 years or more

- IT/WEB/Advertisement (regardless of Online Offline), work experience in any industry or area Experience in management of small to medium-sized organizations

- Experience in business improvement / improvement planning / promotion
