Job Description

The Operations Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating the discharge and loading of provisions, luggage, ship materials, and/or waste for the assigned cruise operations in New Orleans. Operations must be completed promptly and effectively while maintaining the highest standards of quality, security, and safety. This role will also ensure compliance with applicable regulations, company directives and guidelines, and client service standards.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Plan, design, and implement all cruise vessel operations.
  • Liaise with customers, authorities, union labor and officials, contractors, and company staff on any operational requirements.
  • Ensure availability of equipment and personnel required to effectively conduct tasks outlined by the operations plan.
  • Supervise personnel in proper operating procedures, and as needed counsel, discipline, and/or make termination recommendations.
  • Plan, conduct, and organize safety meetings as part of the operation briefing at the start of operations, addressing key safety hazards and requirements for always using appropriate PPE.
  • Coordinate with Sr. Director Safety and HSE Manager for continued review of safety protocols and their adherence.
  • Have all staff members comply with company policies and procedures, government and industry-related regulations and safety rules, and any other applicable laws and rules.
  • Ensure all staff members are familiar with Union regulations, bylaws and acknowledged past practices.
  • Drive improvements and enhancements towards continued achievement of goals, objectives and standards,
  • Engage with customers regularly to ensure concerns are addressed, and satisfaction standards are met or exceeded.
  • Monitor spending to ensure expenses are consistent with approved budgets.
  • Directly participate in monthly and annual financial planning, forecasting, and financial review of cruise operations.
  • Investigate and report on any injuries and any damage involving our equipment, staff, and/or workers which form a liability to our company or management.
  • Participate in the settlements of on-the-job grievances and participate in scheduled Labor Relations Committee proceedings.
  • Ensure that staff members comply with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, union contracts, and government regulations.
  • Complete various reports and forms such as activity reports, payroll, and safety summaries, and present these reports to respective parties within required deadlines.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of managing related labor required.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of principles of operations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 operating systems.
  • Knowledge of safety and accident prevention codes and regulations
  • Required to observe all safety, health, and environmental requirements.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
  • Valid CPR certificate and driver’s license required; must be able to obtain TWIC/Port IDs as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes- Operations Labor Manager(s) and Union Labor

Work environment:

  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
  • Must be able to work in extreme outdoor temperatures of hot and cold, extremely dusty conditions, and occasionally, conditions of high levels of noise.
  • The ability to work in an environment that may be hazardous to persons unable to see and hear fast-moving equipment.
  • The ability to drive 10%.

Salary Range: $90,000-110,000 per year

The posted compensation range is based on the applicable geographic market for the position and may vary depending on factors such as related experience and skill set. Final compensation will be determined based on these items and other relevant factors.
