Job Description
Acadian Ambulance has an exciting opportunity for an Operations Manager to lead our Southwest LA operations, strengthen team performance, and advance excellence in patient care, safety, and service. This hands-on leadership opportunity is ideal for someone ready to take ownership, turn priorities into results, and make a lasting impact on the crews and communities we serve.
The Operations Manager provides guidance and support to field supervisors and crews, develops employees, and drives improvements in operational readiness and service quality. From overseeing day-to-day operations to responding to major incidents, this leader sets the direction for district performance and creates an environment where employees can succeed.
We’re looking for a leader who follows through, balances immediate operational demands with long-term goals, and makes sound decisions under pressure. The ideal candidate communicates clearly, approaches difficult conversations with professionalism and respect, and leads by example—recognizing that a strong EMS district begins with prepared crews, consistent standards, and engaged leadership.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Operational readiness: Manage staffing, scheduling, station operations, vehicle readiness, equipment, and medical supplies to keep crews prepared and resources available.
- Team performance and development: Coach field supervisors and employees, support new hire orientation, conduct evaluations, recognize development needs, and address performance concerns.
- Quality and continuous improvement: Review operational data, medical audits, response critiques, and daily shift reports. Identify trends, resolve issues, and turn findings into practical improvements.
- Safety and clinical accountability: Reinforce medical protocols, safe driving practices, company policies, required education, and recertification. Oversee controlled substance accountability and assist with accident investigations.
- Field leadership: Stay connected to crews through station visits, crew change observations, and field ride-alongs. Maintain 24-hour district on-call availability, respond to major incidents, and occasionally serve as additional crew when needed.
- Community and partner relationships: Build productive relationships with hospital teams and community partners, participate in disaster drills and public meetings, and support public relations and membership initiatives.
- Administrative stewardship: Review and approve electronic time records, monitor district expenses and petty cash, and ensure operational concerns are documented, communicated, and resolved.
- Strategic execution: Partner with operations leadership on goal planning, facilitate staff meetings, and guide the district through changing priorities with clear communication and decisive action.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current National and/or State EMT-Paramedic certification, as required by the applicable state.
- Current American Heart Association CPR and ACLS certifications.
- A valid state-issued driver’s license meeting applicable requirements, equivalent to a Louisiana Class D license.
- Knowledge of medical protocols, operational procedures, and safety policies.
- Ability to operate large vehicles in normal and adverse conditions.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear reports and correspondence and communicate effectively with employees, leaders, and external partners.
Benefits
We offer comprehensive insurance benefits for full-time employees, including but not limited to Medical, Dental, Vision coverages, along with 401(k) and ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Program), and Vacation and Sick time.
