The Operations Manager plays a key leadership role in driving terminal performance and operational efficiency. This position is responsible for managing core functions including dispatch operations, customer service, driver recruitment and retention, and adherence to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, cross-functional coordination, and a focus on delivering consistent, high-quality service.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage operational staff including Customer Service (CS), District Manager (DM), and ICCCS positions, coordinating daily dispatch activities to ensure efficient tractor, driver, and trailer utilization.

  • Oversee service performance, including tank cleaning and tank wash processes—reviewing approvals, conducting research, and resolving conflicts as needed.

  • Proficient in Google Workspace tools (Sheets, Docs, Gmail) and general email communication.

  • Strong understanding of DOT (Department of Transportation) laws and regulations, including safety and compliance standards.

  • Ability to analyze data, coordinate schedules, and manage documentation using cloud-based systems.

  • Effective communication and organizational skills, with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

  • Prior experience in transportation, logistics, or operations management is preferred.

  • Manage overall driver-related functions, including safety performance, regulatory compliance, hiring, and retention initiatives.

  • Verify that all equipment complies with preventive maintenance (PM) schedules and annual inspections.

  • Facilitate training for new staff members to ensure proficiency in job responsibilities.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Terminal Manager to support terminal operations.

Requirements

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of bulk truck terminal operations and standard procedures

  • Proficient in computer systems and software relevant to logistics and dispatch

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage teams effectively

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and prioritize tasks efficiently

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent, required
  • 2+ Years Terminal experience, required
  • 2-4 Years Management experience

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. On-call availability required.
