Operations Manager | Transfer Station & Resource Recovery

As a leader in the waste management industry, we are committed to safety, sustainability, and innovation. We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead our Transfer Station and Resource Recovery site, with responsibility for operational performance, customer service, compliance, and financial outcomes.

This hands-on leadership role will see you driving a positive safety culture, leading site operations, and delivering continuous improvement initiatives that enhance performance and achieve business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and inspire a team to achieve operational excellence and high performance.
  • Champion a strong safety culture where safety is always the number one priority.
  • Drive operational performance by developing and implementing strategies, processes, and continuous improvement initiatives, while monitoring KPIs and operational metrics to identify opportunities, improve outcomes, and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Manage weighbridge operations, ensuring exceptional customer service and efficient site traffic flow.
  • Take full accountability for site budgets, forecasting, resource allocation, and P&L performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, environmental, and operational requirements.
  • Collaborate with other transfer stations to share knowledge, drive consistency, and promote best practice across the business.

About You

You are a confident and capable leader who can build strong relationships, influence teams, and foster a high-performance culture. You enjoy working alongside your team while maintaining a strategic focus on safety, operational performance, and business outcomes.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience leading operational teams in a supervisor, site manager, operations manager, or similar leadership role.
  • Experience within the Waste Management, Industrial Waste, Resource Recovery, Logistics, Transport, Manufacturing, Quarrying, or similar operational environment.
  • Strong commitment to workplace health and safety, with a passion for driving a positive safety culture.
  • Experience managing budgets and financial performance, including P&L accountability.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams and departments, identify and resolve problems effectively, make sound decisions, and implement practical solutions.
  • Current Driver's Licence.
