Job Description

A well-established logistics organisation is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead and optimise its warehouse and distribution operations in KwaZulu-Natal. This is an excellent opportunity for a results-driven leader with strong operational, people management and customer service skills to join a fast-paced, service-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities


  • Manage the day-to-day operations of a busy logistics and distribution facility.

  • Oversee inbound and outbound logistics, receiving, dispatch and warehouse activities.

  • Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), customer contracts and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

  • Drive operational efficiency, productivity and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Manage container receiving, freight consolidation and inventory processes.

  • Monitor operational KPIs and prepare accurate management reports.

  • Control labour costs, overtime, equipment utilisation and departmental expenditure.

  • Lead, coach and develop warehouse supervisors and operational teams across multiple shifts.

  • Ensure excellent customer service through effective communication and query resolution.

  • Maintain high standards of health and safety, housekeeping and regulatory compliance.

  • Plan resources effectively to meet operational demands while maintaining service excellence.

Minimum Requirements


  • Tertiary qualification in Logistics, Operations Management, Business Management or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience within the logistics, transport or warehousing industry.

  • At least 3 years' experience in a management role

  • Proven experience managing warehouse and distribution operations.

  • Strong knowledge of inbound and outbound logistics processes.

  • Experience managing operational KPIs, reporting and customer SLAs.

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.

  • Strong leadership, planning and problem-solving abilities.
