About the vacancy

The Operations Manager is
responsible for leading the team and directing shift activities for a specific
area of the operations including labour scheduling, supervision and the proper
execution of warehouse procedures. This role will cover a 4 days on/4 days off day shift, 6am to 6pm.

Key responsibilities:

• Manage the operations of the site for the shift area of responsibility to achieve operational KPI’s
• Plan labour (rosters, absences and breaks) and equipment resources and ensure these are matched to volume requirements with a focus on cost and productivity efficiency.
• Plan and project operational requirements for handover to the next shift
• To advance the performance of the shift through operational flow improvements
• Manage the outstanding issues from previous shifts
• Knowledge of inventory and procurement management
• Ensure all company equipment is handled in a responsible manner
• Liaise with other departments and shifts as required and foster a ‘one team’ way of operating
• Attend meetings as required and report on operational outputs
• To ensure the integrity and security of the operation, including control of access to stock, work areas, equipment and use of the WMS.
• To take on such additional responsibilities and duties as are required by management
• Manage and lead toolbox meetings with an action-oriented outcome to empower conversation and participation. Ensure prompt action on all agenda items.
• Develop, implement and review operational policies and procedures
• Have a regular presence directly and physically within operational areas
• Fill in and cover operational roles as required

Skills & qualifications:

• 5 years’ experience in a Senior Logistics Operations role
• Strong planning, management and organizational skills
• Knowledge of warehouse systems
• Lean Manufacturing/continuous improvement knowledge
• Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• QESH Management
• Demonstrates excellent time management, efficiency and organisational skills
• Ability to build alliances and partnerships with other organisations, suppliers and customers
• Strong ability to lead and develop teams
• Holds a valid forklift license
