YOUR ROLE
CEVA Logistics has been awarded a major new contract with a high-profile client, marking an exciting phase of growth for the business. As a result, our flagship e-commerce operation in Derby is looking for a dynamic Operations Manager to provide direction across the new warehouse operation and drive operational efficiency to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations.
We’re hiring multiple Operations Managers to join our team. Available shift patterns include Monday–Friday and Tuesday–Saturday (AM and PM shifts). Flexibility is essential, as additional coverage may occasionally be required to support business needs.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
Leading a team of 2 Shift Managers and circa 75 indirect reports, plus agency resource, you will provide strong management control through effective planning, organisation and communication to ensure all KPI targets are consistently achieved.
In this fast-paced, high-volume environment, you will take ownership of shift performance, ensuring all operational activity is delivered safely, efficiently and in full compliance with company and customer standards. You will drive daily service, throughput and productivity targets in line with operational plans, while acting as the primary escalation point for all shift-level issues, ensuring swift resolution and minimal disruption. You will be championing a safety-first culture across all areas of the operation. You will ensure Health & Safety standards, risk assessments and safe systems of work are adhered to at all times, creating a safe and compliant working environment for all colleagues.
You will lead, coach and develop colleagues to deliver consistent, high-level performance, building capability and driving engagement across your teams. With a strong focus on planning and execution, you will manage labour and resource allocation in line with daily and weekly forecasts, optimising headcount, agency usage and operational efficiency. Through close monitoring of KPIs, productivity and utilisation, you will take a proactive approach to maintaining performance and driving continuous improvement across the operation. You will play a key role in delivering cost control initiatives, driving efficiencies and implementing productivity improvements across your operational areas.
This is an excellent opportunity for a driven and hands-on leader to make a real impact within a dynamic operation, contributing to both short-term performance and long-term success.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Our ideal candidate will bring proven experience of leading large warehouse teams, along with significant operational expertise within warehouse environments, ideally gained in an e-commerce setting. You will have a strong track record of building and maintaining excellent client relationships, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
You will be a confident people leader with strong coaching and development skills, capable of motivating teams to deliver high performance. A decisive and commercially aware approach to decision-making is essential, along with the ability to operate effectively across all levels of the organisation.
We are also looking for a strong understanding of warehouse operations, labour productivity and performance management. You will be confident working with KPIs and operational data to drive informed decisions, with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset and a strong ability to solve problems and improve performance.
WHAT DO WE HAVE TO OFFER?
With a genuine culture of reward and recognition, we want our employees to grow, develop and be part of our journey. We offer a benefits package that includes competitive annual leave entitlement with a fantastic holiday buy scheme, pension and life assurance along with access to an employee benefits platform that offers discounts on gym memberships and money off vouchers for a diverse range of retail, travel and hospitality brands.
