Job Description


The Operations & Logistics Manager is responsible for leading and managing end-to-end operational activities supporting agro commodity export operations. The role oversees processing facilities, warehouse operations, storage management, and logistics coordination to ensure efficient movement, storage, processing, and dispatch of commodities.
The position ensures operational efficiency, cost control, quality compliance, and timely execution of export supply chain activities while managing and developing a team comprising of processing supervisors, warehouse supervisors, and storekeepers.
Main responsibilities
Accountability
Operations Management
•    Oversee daily operations across processing units, warehouses, and storage facilities. 
•    Ensure smooth coordination between sourcing, processing, storage, and logistics functions. 
•    Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for operational efficiency. 
•    Monitor operational workflows to ensure productivity and minimize bottlenecks. 
Processing Operations
•    Manage processing supervisors to ensure agro commodities are processed according to export standards. 
•    Ensure adherence to quality specifications during cleaning, grading, sorting, and packaging. 
•    Optimize processing capacity and reduce wastage or post-harvest losses. 
•    Maintain compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards. 
Warehouse & Inventory Management
•    Oversee warehouse supervisors and storekeepers to ensure proper storage and inventory control. 
•    Maintain accurate stock records, inventory reconciliation, and movement tracking. 
•    Implement inventory optimization strategies to reduce holding costs and losses. 
•    Ensure proper handling, storage conditions, and traceability of commodities. 
Logistics Coordination
•    Coordinate internal and external logistics for movement of goods from sourcing locations to warehouses and export points. 
•    Work closely with transport providers to ensure timely dispatch and delivery. 
•    Optimize transportation routes, load planning, and logistics costs. 
•    Develop contingency plans for disruptions in supply chain operations. 
Team Management & Development
•    Lead, manage, and develop processing supervisors, warehouse supervisors, and storekeepers. 
•    Set performance objectives and conduct regular performance reviews. 
•    Provide training and development to improve operational efficiency and compliance. 
•    Foster a disciplined, safety-focused, and performance-driven work environment. 
Compliance & Quality Assurance
•    Ensure adherence to company policies, export regulations, and local Mozambique compliance requirements. 
•    Coordinate with quality assurance teams to ensure product standards are met. 
•    Implement corrective actions for operational or quality deviations. 
Reporting & Performance Monitoring
•    Track operational KPIs including throughput, processing efficiency, inventory accuracy, and logistics costs. 
•    Prepare regular operational reports for the Export Head. 
•    Identify operational risks and recommend improvements.
 
Job requirements
Required qualifications
•    Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field
Preferred qualifications
•    Certification in Logistics, Operations, or Supply Chain Management
•    Exposure to agro commodity or export-driven supply chains
Required experience
•    7–10 years of experience in operations, logistics, or supply chain management
•    Experience managing warehouse and processing operations
Preferred experience
•    Experience in agro commodity export operations
•    Experience managing multi-functional teams in African operational environments
•    Exposure to end-to-end supply chain from sourcing to export
