Job Description

The Operations Lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating operational workflows for Grain operations at our Burlington WI location. This role ensures that assigned tasks are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. Depending on business needs, the Operations Lead may focus on a single unit or provide support across multiple areas. Regardless of scope, the Operations Lead is expected to uphold the highest standards of safety, quality, and accountability while embodying the company’s core values of Safety, Accountability, Passion, Integrity, and Financial Responsibility.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Organize and oversee daily workflow within Grain to ensure smooth and efficient execution of tasks.
  • Assess current operational processes; identify opportunities for improvement and implement new methods or procedures to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Enforce and prioritize safety protocols, ensuring compliance with company policies and all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accuracy and quality in all work performed, minimizing errors and maximizing efficiency.
  • Provide direction, support, and training to operational staff to ensure team performance aligns with company goals.
  • Collaborate with department heads to allocate resources effectively, optimizing equipment and manpower usage.
  • Maintain detailed records of operational activities and prepare regular reports on workflow efficiency, safety incidents, and process improvements.
  • Stay informed of industry best practices and emerging trends, applying this knowledge to drive continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and maintain equipment, reporting and addressing failures promptly.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal safety regulations; attend required safety training.
  • Report unsafe conditions or behaviors immediately.
  • Ensure facilities remain clean, organized, and safe.
  • Assist with weighing and grading grain in the Scale House, as applicable.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and provide operational support as needed.
  • Support other business areas as operational needs arise.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations/production/manufacturing.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with proven ability to manage teams effectively.
  • Demonstrated success in evaluating and improving operational processes.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Strong integrity, accountability, and alignment with company core values.
  • Resilience and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Dedication to outstanding customer service.
  • Positive attitude with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
  • Willingness and ability to climb 30-foot bins, railcars, and 100-foot grain legs.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Comfort working with grain dust, at heights, or in confined spaces as required.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety protocols.
