OPERATIONS INTERN

About the Role

Voltava is seeking an Operations Intern to support our Lansing manufacturing operations. This hands-on opportunity provides exposure to production, team member development, quality, safety, scheduling, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.

What You Will Do

  • Support daily manufacturing operations and collaborate with teams across the facility.
  • Assist with Team Member onboarding, training, and development, including creating and updating training materials.
  • Monitor training and performance requirements using tools such as the Versatility Matrix.
  • Support audits and compliance activities, including PVS, SOT, and 5S, and help identify and address gaps.
  • Validate daily operational documentation and support accurate recordkeeping.
  • Participate in daily 5S activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and support compliance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with staffing and scheduling activities to support operational needs.
  • Support employee engagement activities and initiatives.
  • Use data to identify opportunities, solve problems, and improve operational performance.
  • Build positive working relationships and communicate effectively with teams across the facility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Need To Be Successful:

  • Completed at least one year of college coursework.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Previous work experience preferred, ideally in manufacturing, operations, or a related environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to use data to support decisions and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple tasks, and perform effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships and collaborate with others.

Education

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree at an accredited college or university, preferably in Engineering, Business Management, Operations, or a related field.
