Job Description

APM TerminalsThe Operational Incharge is responsible for managing end-to-end warehouse and distribution center operations, ensuring operational excellence, service delivery, inventory accuracy, customer satisfaction, and compliance with safety and quality standards. The role drives performance across inbound, warehousing, inventory management, outbound distribution, vendor management, and continuous process improvement while ensuring efficient resource utilization and achievement of business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management

  • Lead end-to-end warehouse operations including receiving, put-away, storage, inventory management, order fulfillment, dispatch, and transportation coordination.
  • Ensure achievement of operational KPIs related to productivity, quality, inventory accuracy, and service levels.
  • Drive adherence to SOPs, customer requirements, and operational controls across all warehouse processes.
  • Monitor daily operations and resolve bottlenecks to ensure seamless execution.
  • Ensure timely sorting, grading, transformation, and distribution activities while maintaining operational efficiency and product quality.
  • Manage cold chain operations and ensure adherence to defined service timelines.

Inventory Management & Control

  • Maintain high standards of inventory accuracy through cycle counts, audits, and reconciliation processes.
  • Monitor stock health, ageing inventory, damaged inventory, and liquidation activities as per SOPs.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support inventory planning and stock availability requirements.
  • Drive inventory optimization initiatives to improve accuracy and reduce shrinkage.

Customer & Stakeholder Management

  • Partner with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure service delivery expectations are consistently achieved.
  • Conduct regular operational reviews and provide updates on performance, challenges, and improvement plans.
  • Resolve operational escalations promptly while maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Ensure customer SLAs and contractual obligations are consistently met.

Systems & Process Excellence

  • Leverage WMS, SAP, and operational reporting tools to drive visibility and operational effectiveness.
  • Ensure data integrity and timely transaction processing within all operational systems.
  • Identify and implement process improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Drive standardization and best practices across operational processes.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure strict adherence to all safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through regular audits, training, and compliance monitoring.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, customer requirements, and company policies.
  • Maintain operational readiness for internal and external audits.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 4-5 years of experience in warehousing, contract logistics, supply chain, e-commerce, retail, FMCG, or distribution operations.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale warehouse and distribution center operations.
  • Strong knowledge of WMS, SAP, inventory management, transportation, and warehouse operations.
  • Experience managing customer-facing operations and SLA-driven environments.
  • Demonstrated people leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and operational planning skills.
