BUSINESS UNIT: Shafts

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To find, evaluate and optimise extraction of the orebody in the Impala Operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• BSc Honours Degree in Geology is essential
• 1-3 Years Mining Geology experience (in tubular ore bodies) is essential
• MSc Degree in Geology is desirable
• GSSA Membership is desirable
• SAIMM Membership is desirable
• Registration as Professional Scientist with SA Council of Natural Scientific professionals is desirable

COMPETENCIES:

• Knowledge of geological mapping/surveys
• Knowledge of electronic drillhole data capture
• Bushveld geology knowledge
• Good communication skills
• High level computer literacy.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Scientifically identifies, defines and delineates the ore body.
• Ensures effective geological modelling is maintained. Inclusive of forecast updates.
• Produces a Geology Structure Model for the Shaft.
• Provides professional advise and integrated communication to production & other mining disciplines for present and future mining.
• Facilitates integrated participation in the planning and geological exploration on new mining areas.
• Constantly monitors geological conditions to ensure efficient, economical and progressive mining.
• Guides and manage the geological reports for management information purposes (manage all geological data properly)
• Effectively manages diamond drilling operations and oversee underground Sampling (Drillholes and Cut Sample Sections)
• Electronically captures and updates of all geological data in the relevant software systems such as SABLE.
• Ensures QAQC of Drillholes.
