Job Description

The Operations Engineer provides mid‑ to senior‑level technical operations support for IBM-based IAM systems within a large-scale federal national security environment. Responsible for the administration, sustainment, and operational readiness of IBM-based Security and Identity Management systems. This role ensures secure, stable, and compliant operation of identity services that underpin mission‑critical federal environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain IBM IAM systems (e.g., IVIG, SDS/LDAP) in compliance with federal security requirements.
  • Execute secure configuration, patching, accreditation support, and STIG compliance — core expectations in federal operations roles.
  • Troubleshoot authentication/authorization failures and maintain continuity of mission‑critical access services.
  • Conduct system monitoring, log analysis, and incident response in accordance with federal SLAs.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, runbooks, audit documentation, and compliance materials.
  • Support integration across federal applications and mission systems.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts (automation, resiliency, monitoring enhancements).

Minimum Skills:

  • 8+ years hands-on experience with IBM identity and access management tools, such as:
    • IBM Security Identity Manager (ISIM) / IBM Security Verify Governance
    • IBM Security Directory Server (SDS)
    • IBM Security Access Manager (ISAM)
    • LDAP directory services
  • Strong understanding of IAM concepts RBAC, provisioning workflows, SSO, federation (SAML/OIDC), directory integration.
  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix system administration
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Python) for automation.
  • Knowledge of federal cybersecurity frameworks (NIST 800‑53, RMF) and ability to apply STIGs for system hardening.
  • Experience supporting large, complex, or mission‑critical environment
  • Final DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • Ability to report onsite in Annapolis Junction, MD (up to 2-3x a week)

Compensation ranges for ASM Research positions vary depending on multiple factors; including but not limited to, location, skill set, level of education, certifications, client requirements, contract-specific affordability, government clearance and investigation level, and years of experience. The compensation displayed for this role is a general guideline based on these factors and is unique to each role. Monetary compensation is one component of ASM's overall compensation and benefits package for employees.
