Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The UCLA Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) Grants Submission Unit (GSU) is seeking a Research Operations Coordinator to support faculty and research teams throughout the NIH grant submission process. The incumbent will coordinate grant activities from development through submission, including identifying funding opportunities, drafting and editing application materials, preparing professional correspondence, managing timelines, coordinating meetings, and ensuring submission components are accurate and complete. The role will also support Institutional Training Grant applications and provide operational assistance to the GSU as needed. The ideal candidate is a highly organized and detail-oriented professional with excellent writing and editing skills, strong project coordination abilities, and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with faculty, researchers, and stakeholders across diverse departments.

Hourly range: $35.23-$53.67


Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Strong competency in critical thinking and writing.
  • Demonstrated skill in working efficiently as part of a collaborative team, sharing responsibility and ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships, to create meaningful connections and communication with people at all levels.
  • Analytical skills to formulate logical solutions, develop alternative solutions and to make recommendations based on situational judgment, problem solving, and inductive reasoning.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with various deadlines.
  • Skill in working independently with moderate supervision and to actively seek additional responsibility, comfort with flexibility in daily tasks due to changing demands.
  • Strong attention to detail; persistence; proactivity; decisiveness.
  • Commitment to team work/team building and open communication.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in an office environment preference of working in an academic setting with grant administration.

Preferred:

  • Access Database knowledge a plus.
  • Some experience in grant applications.
