Powerhouse Arts is a not-for-profit organization committed to creative expression. Housed in a purpose-built-facility in Brooklyn, the organization hosts an extended network of art and fabrication professionals and educators who work together to co-create and share artistic practices vital to the well-being of artists and the communities to which they serve. Our facilities house fabrication services, production services, production spaces, and member workshops for artisans. In 2025, PHA welcomed thousands of patrons as the building became a center for art and performance.

Powerhouse Arts is a not-for-profit established to create a robust platform for art production and employment in the arts. Powerhouse Arts’ programming includes education, employment opportunities, and public engagement to increase access and opportunity for participation in the arts for all New Yorkers. Our organization recently relocated to our permanent home, which houses fabrication services, production spaces, member workshops for artisans, and more. In 2025, PHA welcomed thousands of patrons as the building became a center for art and performance. As the organization continues to grow and expand its impact, we are also growing our team by hiring for key roles to support our expanding offerings.

Powerhouse Arts is seeking an Operations Coordinator to join our growing team. This role supports day-to-day operations, including PHA programming, fabrication services, and broader operational needs. Reporting to and working closely with the Operations Manager, this position also partners with the Facilities, Events, and Cleaning teams. The ideal candidate is adaptable, enjoys wearing many hats, and thrives in a fast-paced environment while tackling both large and small challenges. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Operations

  • Coordinate daily operational activities across departments while addressing operational issues proactively
  • Support sourcing, bidding, compliance and oversight for vendors including Cleaning, Carting, Transportation and Contracting
  • Research and coordinate procurement for supplies and equipment
  • Support Operations Manager in oversight of cleaning operations building wide, including fielding requests, coordinating with Food & Beverage Manager and Event Production & Operations
    Director on cleaning needs
  • Support hands-on building needs including, signage, furniture assembly, installing cling film, and other tasks as assigned
  • Monitor, order, and organize office supplies as needed to ensure a fully stocked workplace

Events and Exhibits

  • Support Operations Manager and Lead Porters in oversight and scheduling event cleaning staffCoordinate planning and execution of wayfinding at events
  • Ensuring smooth communication between contracted vendors and internal staff during events
  • Ensure operational readiness before, during, and after events
  • Provide hands on event-production support to Powerhouse Production, Cleaning and Visitor Services Departments
  • Administrative support, including scheduling, updating the event management system, and coordinating with Production and Security teams to reconcile labor actuals

Health and Safety

  • Coordinate Health and Safety initiatives for staff and the building, including environmental compliance, training and education
  • Support Operations Manager and Department Leads to advance the development of Health and
  • Safety programs and protocols
  • Coordinate, organize and track building-wide health and safety trainings
  • Coordinate chemical disposals and pickups for the organization

  • Passion for the arts and a commitment to the mission of a non-profit arts organization
  • 3-5 years of experience in operations, events or administrative coordination roles; non-profit or arts experience a plus
  • Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are a must
  • Experience with events planning, management and interacting with the public is preferred
  • Experienced with carpentry, fabrication or planning of hands-on projects is a plus
  • Experience in logistics or in an institutional setting supporting environmental or facilities operations is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability in creative problem solving
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and experience with project management tools like Asana
  • Weekend and Evening availability required
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, stand for long periods of time and travel upstairs

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary range is $55,000-$60,000 and commensurate with experience. Benefits include health insurance, an employer-sponsored retirement plan, generous paid vacation, and a Citibike membership.
