The successful applicant is responsible for ensuring accurate underwriting and accounting data is maintained within the system of record. Duties include processing inwards reinsurance contract transactions, processing endorsements, EPI changes and premium adjustments, assisting with manual cash processing and credit control responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Process transactions and monitoring related activities related to proportional contracts, including booking bordereaux/treaty invoices, allocating cash and follow-up with brokers.
- Process endorsements and corrections to ensure that system of record is accurate and complete.
- Process premium adjustments, no-claims bonuses and profit commissions in line with contract wording and accounting policies.
- Liaise with the underwriting department and brokers to ensure accurate data capture, including the interpretation of slips and endorsements of reinsurance contracts.
- Assist with credit control activities.
- Assist with the monitoring of outsourcing partners.
- Assist with the reconciliation of monies received from Xchanging and manual cash received to bound contracts, during peak periods.
- Maintain group procedures, controls and systems and report to manager on discrepancies.
- Provide team coverage and assist with ad hoc operations team related projects as required.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role within the reinsurance industry.
- Experience working in a high-pressured team environment and the ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy, professionalism and confidentiality.
- Must have excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and work on one's own initiative.
- Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues quickly and implement effective solutions.
- Strong written and oral communication skills as well as the ability to effectively interact with individuals on all levels within the organization.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications specifically Excel and Word.
- Strong work ethics and the ability to work extended hours including weekends during busy periods is required.
- Experience working with outsourcing partners is advantageous.
- Experience using Eclipse or similar technical accounting system is advantageous.
- Experience with Xchanging messages and use of the IMR is advantageous.
