The Operations Accountant is responsible for accounting and auditing functions related to UFP's legal entities and supporting the Accounting team with its daily responsibilities.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Acts as a resource for individual legal entities regarding proper accounting procedures
Prepares and enters journal entries, maintains stored/recurring entries, establishes branch-structured entries
Maintains balance sheet account reconciliations and coordinates corrections
Prepares various accounting analysis spreadsheets
Oversees the closing of the modules, balances inter-company accounts, monitors accrual balances for reasonableness, and performs various other month-end closing duties
Research problems related to improper account usage, computer bugs, and improper procedures
Identifies/cultivates efficiencies in accounting processes
Implements new processes, as necessary
Develops ad-hoc reports and analyses for management
Complete yearend closing and audit requirements
Performs other duties as required
Qualifications
Minimum of a Bachelor of Arts in accounting, finance, or another business major (related experience with a degree in another field is also acceptable)
CPA preferred with 2 to 4 years of experience in public accounting
International Accounting experience preferred
Working knowledge and understanding of accounting and finance practices
Working knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer and business-related software, including Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, and Outlook are required)
