About ASARCO Grupo Mexico

ASARCO LLC is a subsidiary of one of the world’s largest Copper producers, Grupo Mexico, which ranks third in the United States in Copper production. ASARCO LLC is a fully integrated miner, smelter, and refinery of copper in the United States with over 2,800 employees spanning across five sites in Arizona and Texas.

We are looking for motivated students with a strong interest in the mining industry. Our internship program is 10 weeks long, in which you will receive important industry training and get involved in meaningful real-world projects like planning a program, designing a process, or implementing technology. The culmination of your program will include an opportunity to present your work to management at ASARCO & Grupo

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for executing, supporting, and enforcing the Company's Environmental, Health and Safety program as required by OIS policy, directives, and principles.
  • Interpret and cross analyze multiple data sets to form a story around the data utilizing data visualization tools.
  • Correlate and validate data sets to compare the mining process to real world conditions, creating a cleaned data set to use as the source for informed recommendations.
  • Utilize interpersonal skills to communicate with shift supervisors, equipment operators, and managers to ask necessary questions to analyze captured data.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal abilities.
  • Time management skills in performing multiple projects with various team members.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively present findings and make recommendations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite products such as Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Knowledge to create and execute SQL queries to extract data sets for analysis from various fleet technology systems.
  • Utilize open source technology to streamline the data capture and analysis process in a repeatable and sustainable way.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university on a full-time basis.
  • Must be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Graduate level.
  • Must be majoring in Mining Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, Data Science, or related discipline.
