
This role provides management and delivery of second line risk management services and oversight in line with Operational Risk program and practices, industry standards, and management expectations. The role includes providing independent and objective insights related to Operational Risk program and practices to guide and influence business risk management in the enhancement and implementation of their risk management practices. This role manages and guides the development of a second-line Operational Risk team providing these services.
The role also includes input to Operational Risk strategy and direction, when requested, and input to Operational Risk program and practice enhancements in support of the Program Office. This role requires execution in a manner that supports collaboration and efficiency amongst its risk partners, as applicable. They report to the Senior Director-Operational Risk Management and exercise independent judgment, discretion, and decision-making. The individual is considered a subject matter expert in the businesses or functions that they oversee; the Operational Risk program and have a solid understanding of other risk pillars. The position requires the establishment of effective relationships and communications with senior and executive level management and other stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities:
Supervisory/ Managerial Responsibilities:
Oversee a team of individuals within the operational risk discipline.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree and ten years' experience in compliance, legal, audit, risk or other relevant function,
OR in lieu of degree,
A combined minimum fourteen years’ higher education and/or work experience including ten years’ experience in compliance, legal, audit, risk or other relevant function.
Minimum of five years’ managerial or supervisory experience.
Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
Proficient computer skills (including spreadsheet and word processing software), analytical skills, working knowledge of applicable laws, written and verbal communications w/ all levels.
Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
Second line Operational Risk experience with a Cat 3 or larger financial institution
Risk oversight or direct experience in core bank support functions, including but not limited to: Premises, Corporate Security, Procurement and Vendor Management, Communications, Legal, Human Resources
Information Systems Risk Assessment and Governance
Certified Third Party Risk Professional (CTPRP)
