Operational Process & Systems Optimization Consultant (Contract)

United Global Technologies (UGT) is seeking a highly experienced Operational Process & Systems Optimization Consultant to conduct a comprehensive operational assessment across the organization. This contractor will evaluate current workflows, systems, communication structures, and operational dependencies across HR, onboarding, recruiting, finance, offshore/onshore coordination, and administrative functions.

The consultant will document current-state operations, identify inefficiencies and redundancies, evaluate existing technology utilization, and develop a future-state operational and automation roadmap designed to improve scalability, accountability, visibility, and operational efficiency.

This is a 3–4 month contract role reporting directly to the COO.

Core Responsibilities

Operational Process Assessment

  • Conduct comprehensive discovery sessions with department leaders and staff
  • Review and document end-to-end operational workflows
  • Map current-state processes across:
  • HR
  • Recruiting
  • Candidate onboarding
  • Finance/accounting operations
  • Administrative workflows
  • Offshore/onshore coordination
  • Proposal and delivery support processes
  • Identify operational bottlenecks, redundancies, manual dependencies, and communication gaps

Systems & Technology Evaluation

  • Assess all operational systems and platforms currently utilized by UGT
  • Identify underutilized features, integration gaps, duplicate processes, and inefficiencies
  • Evaluate system ownership, data flow, reporting capabilities, and process alignment
  • Review opportunities for:
  • workflow automation
  • API integrations
  • dashboarding and reporting
  • notification workflows
  • approval routing
  • operational visibility improvements

Process Documentation & SOP Development

  • Develop standardized process maps and workflow documentation
  • Create current-state and future-state operational diagrams
  • Build SOP recommendations and governance standards
  • Document process ownership and accountability structures

Automation & Optimization Strategy

  • Recommend operational improvements and automation opportunities
  • Prioritize initiatives based on business impact and implementation complexity
  • Develop phased recommendations for operational scalability
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort and improve consistency across departments

Executive Reporting & Strategic Recommendations

  • Provide recurring status updates to executive leadership
  • Present findings, risks, and recommendations directly to the COO
  • Deliver a final operational assessment and transformation roadmap

Expected Deliverables / Outcomes

At the completion of the engagement, the consultant will provide:

1. Operational Assessment Report

Comprehensive review of current operational structure, workflows, inefficiencies, risks, and dependencies.

2. Current-State Process Maps

Visual documentation of existing workflows across key business functions.

3. Systems & Technology Assessment

Detailed inventory and evaluation of:

  • systems currently in use
  • system ownership
  • process alignment
  • utilization gaps
  • integration opportunities

4. Future-State Operational Design

Recommendations for optimized workflows, ownership structures, communication standards, and operational scalability.

5. Automation Roadmap

Prioritized roadmap identifying:

  • automation opportunities
  • integration recommendations
  • quick wins
  • longer-term operational improvements
  • estimated operational impact

6. SOP & Governance Recommendations

Framework for standardization, accountability, and operational consistency.

7. Executive Presentation to COO

Formal presentation summarizing:

  • key findings
  • operational risks
  • inefficiencies
  • recommended improvements
  • implementation priorities

Ideal Candidate Background

  • 7+ years in operations consulting, business process optimization, or operational transformation
  • Experience within staffing, professional services, government contracting, or consulting environments preferred
  • Strong background in:
  • workflow mapping
  • process reengineering
  • systems optimization
  • operational scalability
  • automation strategy
  • Experience working with offshore/onshore operational models preferred
  • Strong executive communication and documentation skills
  • Experience evaluating ATS, CRM, HRIS, finance, and operational systems

Reporting Structure

Reports Directly To:

  • Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Duration:

  • 3–4 Month Contract Engagement

Engagement Type:

  • Independent Contractor / Consultant

Work Structure:

  • Hybrid or Onsite Preferred for Discovery Sessions and Leadership Meetings
