Job Description

You’re someone who wants to create outcomes that have a real impact on the people of NSW.

You're all about the detail and this role will allow you to drive evidence-based decision making to optimise systems and efficiency, not just for the business but for our customers too. It's data and research with impact you can see.

In this role, you'll:

Be working as part of a team delivering operational and strategic transport forecasting and traffic modelling solutions.

This role will see you support the development, operation, review and continuous improvement of meso and micro transport models, undertake transport and traffic analysis, contribute to forecasting activities, and build your expertise across a range of modelling projects that inform future transport planning decisions.

You will analyse, develop and improve transport models and forecasting capabilities in a complex and evolving transport planning environment, balancing technical rigour, quality assurance and stakeholder requirements to support project outcomes across Transport for NSW.

For more information on this position and business unit, view the role description and information pack.

About you

Your analytical thinking, problem-solving skills and ability to communicate technical concepts clearly formed across transport planning, transport modelling, engineering, mathematics, data science or related fields will see you excel in developing and reviewing transport models, interpreting complex datasets, supporting forecasting activities and delivering clear, evidence-based insights for a range of stakeholders.

You’re recognised as a collaborative and detail-oriented professional, skilled at analysing transport data, documenting modelling assumptions and translating technical findings for both technical and non-technical audiences, experienced in transport and traffic modelling principles, quality assurance processes and the use of modelling software such as Aimsun, SIDRA, VISSIM and/or Dynameq.

Experience with Python scripting to support modelling and analytical activities will be highly regarded.

You will also bring:

Knowledge of operational and strategic transport modelling concepts, methodologies and analysis techniques.

Experience collecting, analysing and interpreting data to support model development and improvement.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain modelling inputs, outputs, assumptions and limitations to diverse stakeholders.

Relevant tertiary qualifications in transport planning, engineering, mathematics, data science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

The ability to attend the Macquarie Park office on Mondays and Tuesdays, with an additional half-day attendance at an office location of your choice.
