At VictorianPlumbing.co.uk, we’re already the UK’s leading destination for dream bathrooms. Now, we’re taking over the rest of the home.
We are expanding the Victorian Plumbing Group by scaling MFI.co.uk—a fast-growing, well-funded startup with bold ambitions to scale beyond £100m. MFI combines a disruptive, entrepreneurial spirit with the robust backing of an established industry leader. To help drive this next chapter, we’re looking for an Operational Finance Assistant to ensure our financial pipelines and supply chain ledgers are beautifully aligned.
We don’t just "do" invoices; we curate the financial backbone of a business that helps thousands of people style their dream homes, from sleek sofas to homeware collections. If you’ve got a keen eye for detail and won't let a single penny slip through the floorboards, we want to hear from you.
As our Operational Finance Assistant, you won’t just be pushing buttons. You’ll be a critical link between our homewares buying teams and financial reporting, acting as the ultimate quality control that catches discrepancies before they impact our bottom line.
Oversee the full "Purchase-to-Pay" lifecycle. From validating multi-currency invoices for international homeware suppliers to ensuring UK VAT is handled with precision, you’ll keep our ledgers pristine.
Execute payment runs (BACS/CHAPS) that keep our global vendors happy, ensuring a steady, uninterrupted stock of the latest home trends.
Investigate and resolve intricate invoice and delivery discrepancies. You’ll dive deep into logistics and supplier data to identify the root cause of any inventory or pricing misalignments.
Support the Management Accountant with accruals, prepayments, and variance analysis, ensuring our month-end reports are as polished as a premium marble countertop.
Work with the Senior AP to identify bottlenecks in our ERP system, implementing automated workflows that make a fast-scaling startup environment run like clockwork.
We’re looking for someone with commercial acumen who looks beyond the spreadsheet. You understand that behind every invoice is a container of accent chairs, a seasonal homewares collection, or a fleet of delivery drivers.
Experience: You’ve spent time in a fast-paced Finance environment (Accounts Payable or Operational Finance), ideally with exposure to retail, e-commerce, or stock inventory.
Precision: You have an uncompromising approach to accuracy. You can spot an incorrect VAT code or a line-item variance from across the room.
Communication: You’re a natural collaborator who can chat with creative buying teams, logistics partners, and external vendors alike, maintaining great relationships even when pacing through high-volume periods.
Aside from working with a team that’s genuinely passionate about retail disruption and premium home design, we offer:
A competitive salary and benefits package.
A supportive, collaborative, and fast-moving environment.
A unique career milestone: The opportunity to completely own and develop the P2P process for the rapidly expanding MFI business from the ground floor.
If you’re ready to soak up a new challenge and bring your financial expertise to the future of homewares, apply today!
