Operational Buyer

Join us as an Operational Buyer based in Pune to be responsible for Material Management and consequently to the replenishment process. The supply of material is continuously ensured according to the requirements of both internal and external customers.

The position / About the Job:

In this job the Operational Buyer would be responsible for:

  • Review, Analyse and Release P.O Proposals
  • Share Forecast & timely inputs to supplier to ensure sufficient capacity at suppliers and on time supply of goods.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process – forgings, castings, machining, fabrication, pressings etc.
  • Responsible right from release of P.O to stocking of material and payment to suppliers
  • Good Communication skills and timely actions
  • Work on inventory optimisation, continuously improve IDS of factory
  • Work on Min-Max stocks at suppliers, review it periodically. Work on VMI solutions to improve lead time of goods
  • In case of quality deviations, work on PRP process and ensure actions on root cause.
  • Work on Cost improvement projects to lower purchase cost year over year
  • Knowledge of ERP system D365 and experience of working in purchase process
  • Knowledge of processes like MRP run, P.O release, P.O amendments, handling drawings, material standards
  • Understanding of drawings, tolerances, material grades
  • Float Enquiry of items, prepare Quotation Comparative & Evaluation Sheet, track sample orders till new supply chain is regularised
  • Phase in & Phase Out in supply chain projects
  • Monitor suppliers’ performance in terms of Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost. Periodic discussion with suppliers for necessary improvements as per targets.
  • Knowledge of Leas Six Sigma Tools
  • Knowledge of Sustainable Sourcing, Compliances, CBAM.
  • Monitor & Update Approved Suppliers Database with latest certificates, documents
  • Active participation in daily meetings, updates on Plan Vs Targets and Sourcing KPI’s.
  • Focus and track daily results related to the three defined purchasing milestones (quality, delivery, cost)
  • Be active in problem solving and drive improvement activities.
  • Always consider the possibility of eliminating waste
  • Forecast & logic-based planning.
  • Supplier audits & visits
  • Importing goods for local assembly, knowledge of import goods process
  • Knowledge of various taxes, freight terms, delivery terms
  • Knowledge of Indirect Purchase
  • Strictly follow Safety culture, Purchase process and Alfa Laval Business Principles.

Who you are?

As a Buyer based in Pune responsible for the supplier forecast and Material Management and consequently to the replenishment process, the supply of materials is continuously ensured according to the requirements of both internal and external customers.

What you can be?

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in the same field.
  • BE Mechanical or production or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process – forgings, castings, machining, fabrication, pressings etc.
  • Understanding of drawings, tolerances, material grades
  • Deep knowledge of the ERP system.
  • Good Communication skills and timely actions
  • Supply Chain Understanding.
  • Supplier association
  • Good knowledge of the business and processes of the company.
