About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking an Operational Accounting Assistant in the Recovery Accounting department. This role is aligned to the Claims and Recovery functional organization, which supports enterprise-wide processes related to financial loss mitigation and recovery. The team oversees end-to-end activities including exception accounting, deposit loss processing, restitution payment execution, and fraud-related recovery efforts. Additionally, the organization enables litigation support, documentation fulfillment, and identity theft resolution capabilities to ensure a comprehensive and controlled approach to resolving customer and financial loss events. This function plays a critical role in safeguarding the bank’s financial interests by driving accurate, timely, and compliant recovery operations across the enterprise.

In this role, you will:

  • Perform operational accounting activities related to recovery payment processing, validations and exception research
  • Perform customer account maintenance and general ledger transactions
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals


Required Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of Operational Accounting support experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • Exposure to financial services operations, such as banking, payments, or claims processing
  • Exposure to reconciliation review or financial validation processes
  • Knowledge and experience using the following applications: CACS, Hogan, and/or eTran
  • Experience with data entry and transactional accuracy in a high-volume processing environment
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles (e.g., debits/credits, balancing, financial transactions)
  • Experience reviewing or validating data for accuracy and completeness
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis for validation and reporting
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and job aids in a controlled environment
  • Experience working with multiple systems/screens simultaneously to research and process transactions
  • Ability to identify discrepancies and escalate issues appropriately
  • Experience supporting process improvements or identifying efficiency opportunities
  • Experience in back-office or operations support roles (vs. front-line only)

Job Expectations:

Position offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring a minimum of one week in the office and one week remote, based at one of the locations listed below.
