Job Description

  • To maintain a regular review of production methods, plant limitations and labour utilisation with a view to recommending and effecting improvements.
  • To ensure that all manufactured products are manufactured per standard practice with resultant adherence to set quality standards.
  • Ensure that the manufacturing operations are managed efficiently and that they operate within budgeted operating costs and standards levels of performance.
  • Ensure that accurate records are kept of consumption of raw materials and of manufactured product to provide information for the calculation of operating costs and finished product inventory.
  • Analysis of daily production figures to monitor the performance of all manufacturing operations taking prompt remedial action where necessary.
  • Maintain an effective workforce in the production area through planned training programs and clear understanding of the requirements and objectives of each job.
  • Promote good industrial relations between management and the workforce and ensure that safety and a high standard of housekeeping are given high priority.
  • Motivate and develop staff within the production area and carry out annual performance assessments on all staff.
  • Monitor on an on-going basis labour turnover, absenteeism, overtime with a view to recommending ways of reducing the above.
  • Introducing tight cost controls so that at any point in time accurate assessment can be made measuring actual costs against budgeted costs and making appropriate changes is an on-going challenge of the position.
  • The incumbent continually strives to reduce production costs by improving the quality of the product, improving employee skills through job rotation and improving skills of key operators so that accurate usage of raw materials is achieved.
  • Training up subordinates so that they are able to fill in and possibly replace the incumbent is an on-going project.
  • Consider possibility of meeting customer’s requirement of producing new product via ENA by taking plant limitation into consideration and proposing possible improvement required
  • Participate and work together with internal and external auditors to ensure successful audit and take ownership in ensuring all regulatory and legal requirements are met.

Requirements

  • Degree in Manufacturing / Engineering field (or related)
  • Five years factory or manufacturing experience
  • Good analytical skills
  • Good mechanical reasoning
