About the role:

Visy Logistics is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead our VIC Intermodal division, based in Epping. This is a hands‑on, influential leadership position responsible for driving operational excellence, delivering outstanding customer service, and achieving key financial and performance targets.

In this role, you will oversee the effective management of fleet and labour operations, with full accountability for P&L, safety, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. You will lead the coordination of road and warehouse services, ensuring seamless operations and the consistent delivery of customer schedules. This is an opportunity to take ownership of a high-performing division and make a meaningful impact across our intermodal network.

What you’ll do:

The key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Own the P&L for the VIC Intermodal division, including monthly forecasting, budgeting, and performance reporting.
  • Provide clear operational and financial insights on fleet, labour, and site performance to senior management.
  • Lead fleet and labour operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost‑effective service delivery.
  • Optimise labour utilisation across driving and warehouse teams, managing both permanent and casual workforce needs.
  • Monitor driver KPIs, identify performance gaps, and implement targeted improvement actions.
  • Maintain accurate equipment tracking, nurture supplier relationships, and resolve operational issues promptly.
  • Manage inventory levels and coordinate quarterly stock audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Partner with internal teams including Sales, Commercial, Customer Service, and Safety to support seamless service delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement across OH&S, Compliance, Injury Management, and Return‑to‑Work processes.

What you will bring:

You’ll bring a sharp operational mindset, strong attention to detail, and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships. With previous operational leadership experience, you will have strong financial acumen with capability to manage budgets, analyse cost drivers, and contribute to strategic financial decisions that impact operational performance. You will also bring:

  • Experience in transport, logistics, or warehouse operations, with a focus on intermodal environments.
  • Strong understanding of CoR, fatigue management, load restraint, and mass management.
  • Containerized Import/Export experience & knowledge of port environment
  • Familiar with SAP, TMS, Container Chain, & CargoWise to support planning, tracking, and performance reporting.
  • A confident people leader who builds capability, drives accountability, and fosters a high-performance culture.
  • Approachable and responsive, you build trusted relationships and ensure customers remain front and centre.
