Operations Manager

Provide leadership, supervision, coordination, and direction for operations to ensure conformance to safety, quality standards, efficiency, meeting delivery targets, and financial goals.

Job Summary

  • Provide leadership, coordination, and direction for all production operations, engineering, planning, and facility maintenance to meet budget.
  • Facilitate the establishment and implementation of continuous improvement, lean manufacturing cycle-time reduction concepts, and plans.
  • Create shipment forecast and oversee scheduling.
  • Oversee the management of inventory levels, manufacturing costs, and on-time delivery to customers.
  • Promote the concept of individual responsibility for product quality.
  • Provide leadership and management for facility maintenance for safety, and EHS performance and regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA, etc.)
  • Prepare annual departmental budget, including sales bookings, shipments, and responsible for performance to plan.
  • Manage performance to key performance indicator goals, including capacity utilization, labor productivity and efficiency, manufacturing cost performance (for example, on-time delivery, quality, safety, cycle time, overhead efficiency, and productivity per employee).
  • Complete weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to management.
  • Manage the expansion of facilities and the acquisition and installation of capital equipment.
  • Provide leadership for and development of direct reports – establishing priorities, accountabilities, and allocating resources; guiding achievement of performance measures.
  • Ownership for plant layout for all production areas.
  • Participate in recruiting, selection and development of all operations personnel through maintaining discipline and personnel relations, interviewing screened applicants.
  • Provide input for hiring, terminations, transfers, salary adjustments, and promotions.
  • Adhere to General Requirements of Team Members including policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.
  • Perform other assignments as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • A working knowledge of manufacturing operations, scheduling, staffing, safety, and maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of SPC, TQM. Lean Manufacturing, and ISO standards; Mil Specs required at CAS facilities.
  • Demonstrated project management experience—planning, budget, allocation of resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with customers.
  • Negotiation and conflict management skills together with demonstrated experience troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Intermediate level of computer skills in email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access.
  • Ability to write and speak effectively with employees at all levels within the organization.
  • Detail oriented with attention to accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills to interact with people at all levels and functions inside and outside Ducommun LaBarge Technologeis, Inc.
  • Ability to quickly and accurately assess and address complex problems using creative approaches.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking skills that portray the ability to conceptualize business requirements in a proactive manner.

Required Experience and Education

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical/Manufacturing Engineering,
  • Business Administration or relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 7-10 years experience showing progression in production management, with supervisory experience.
