Job Description

The Operating Supervisor is responsible for supervising the functional activities within Stores Operations which include Regional Stores and or Astoria Stores. Effectively manage the assigned portion of the material and supply processes, including Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) compliance. Achieve an excellent level of service in the support of the Companys material needs. This position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a STEM OPT Training Plan.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead the achievement of departmental goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) through effective oversight and performance management.
  • Supervise assigned personnel to ensure compliance with labor agreements, training requirements, administrative processes, and performance standards.
  • Plan, organize, schedule, and assign staff to ensure safe, efficient, and productive Stores operations.
  • Manage customer relationships to ensure material requirements are met through high standards of service, accuracy, and timely delivery.
  • Control operational costs by managing overtime, monitoring actuals versus budget, and ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Ensure the safe operation and maintenance of Stores equipment, including forklifts, storage systems, and material handling machinery.
  • Oversee inventory control activities, including periodic inventories, variance analysis, and accurate system reporting.
  • Direct receiving, inspection, storage, and issuance of materials, ensuring accurate coordination with enterprise systems.
  • Manage tool room operations, where applicable, to support operational efficiency and asset accountability.
  • Enforce safety, security, housekeeping, and environmental compliance, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous and nonhazardous materials.
  • Participate in committees and task forces to drive process improvements, technology enhancements, and workforce development initiatives.
  • Respond to storms and other emergencies, staffing staging areas as required.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree and with 2 years of customer service, operational and/or logistics experience, or
  • Associate's Degree and with 4 years of customer service, operational and/or logistics experience, or
  • High School Diploma/GED and with 5 years of customer service, operational and/or logistics experience.

Relevant Work Experience

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products, required.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and render sound business decisions, required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, required.
  • Familiarity with various stores computer systems such as DEMS, Mainsaver, CARS, Oracle EBS, EMIS etc., preferred.
  • Knowledge of various equipment and materials used by operating organizations, preferred.
  • Familiarity with storeroom operations, preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Driver's License Required

Physical Demands

  • Ability to respond to system emergencies
  • Able to work in all weather conditions, i.e. excessive heat and/or cold
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs
  • Ability to work on elevated platforms, scaffolds, catwalks, roofs, and/or other equipment
  • Stand, walk, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach for the duration of the workday
  • Ability to travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies

Additional Physical Demands

  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
