Department Summary
UNT College of Music is searching for a PT opera scenic designer for the opera season. This position works with the opera scenic TD and opera scenic designer to build, install and strike opera scenery
This position works with the opera scenic TD and opera scenic designer to build, install and strike opera scenery for our upcoming UNT College of Music opera season. All construction will take place in the UNT dance and theater arts scenic shop here on UNT campus under the supervision of the TD.
Minimum Qualifications
3 years experience building theatrical scenery for a collegiate or professional level program. Associates degree or higher in a related field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must know how to read and interpret technical drawings for theatrical set construction. Must be able to lead a team of carpenters. Must have extensive knowledge of safety both in using all shop tools and in construction methods. This is a hands on position, so some lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, climbing of stairs and ladders should be expected in every shift

Work Schedule
Work will take place several weeks in the summer before the fall semester begins, over UNT winter and spring break. Strike week will occur in April 2027.
