This is a full-time grant-funded position and receives all benefits afforded to regular employees. This position requires working 40 hours per week.

The purpose of this classification is to perform specialized duties in the processing of open records requests.

Essential Job Functions: The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. This classification is part of the broadband compensation plan. Duties listed may not be performed by all incumbents, and levels may be assigned in accordance with the skills and proficiencies demonstrated by the incumbent.

  • Receives, processes, and fulfills open records requests via the online portal, fax, mail, or in person.
  • Redacts case files, evidence body camera footage, and incident reports in compliance with Open Records Law guidelines.
  • Provides information to the public, attorneys, officers, and other state and federal agencies.
  • Sorts, files, and organizes department records.
  • Maintains records of Department of Driver Services driver’s license suspensions; returns licenses to the public by mail as appropriate.
  • Performs related duties

Qualifications and Benefits

Minimum Education, Training, and

Experience:

  • Knowledge and level of competency are commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to a high school diploma or GED.
  • Requires a security background check.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship, or having had a similar position for one to two years.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.

Required Certificates/Licenses: Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Georgia driver’s license. Possession of or ability to readily obtain GCIS/NCIC certification.
