Job Title: Open Rank Research and Grants Specialist (Entry – Senior)

The Department of Medicine, Divisions of Endocrinology and Rheumatology, seeks a Research and Grants Specialist at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO. The Research and Grants Specialist is responsible for high-level research-related financial tasks and will help oversee post-award grant operations. This position will work closely with the Division Administrators, PIs and key administrative staff with the divisions to ensure accurate grant and clinical trial contracting. This position will also interact with and collaborate closely with the Office of Grants and Contracts (OGC) and external sponsors on billing and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Creates/monitors/maintains monthly financial reports for all PI’s that have research funding as well as reports for leadership in the Division.
Ensures that the award setup accurately reflects the terms and conditions of the award as well as anticipated spending; requests appropriate rebudgeting from OGC and/or sponsor when required.
Prepares documentation for OGC to draft subcontracts; monitors contract execution, account set-up, invoicing, and compliance.
Reviews all expenditures to ensure that division researchers adhere to institutional policies and procedures, as well as to all applicable federal, state, and sponsor rules and regulations.
Completes Journal Entries and Payroll Expense transfers as needed on grant accounts.
Works with Pre-Award Coordinator or Pre-Award Shared Services to process progress reports, including working with Principal Investigators to prepare and submit progress reports (RPPRs) as required by project sponsors.
Provide post-award services for Clinical Trials.
Work Location:
Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 2-3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Entry Level:
Bachelor’s degree in public health, public administration, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, nursing, healthcare, finance, accounting, business administration, business, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
Intermediate Level:
Bachelor’s degree in public health, public administration, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, nursing, healthcare, finance, accounting, research, communications, marketing, business administration, business, or other closely related field.
One (1) year of professional-level experience in sponsored project administration.
Senior Level:
Bachelor’s degree in public health, public administration, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, nursing, healthcare, finance, accounting, research, communications, marketing, business administration, business, or other closely related field.
Two (2) years of professional-level experience in sponsored project administration.
A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a healthcare environment.
Three (3) years of grant experience at an institution of higher learning.
Experience with University of Colorado finance systems (i.e., InfoEd, m-Fin, Concur, Marketplace).
Clinical, laboratory, or research experience.
Contracts and finance experience.
Program and/or project management experience.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range ( or hiring range) for this position has been established as:
Entry Level:$50,160 – $67,215
Intermediate Level:$54,586 – $73,145
Senior Level: $59,012 – $79,076
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
