
The IE School of Science and Technology at IE University invites applications for a full-time, open-rank faculty position in Mechanical Engineering, with a specialization in Fluid Mechanics. The position may be offered at the tenure-track or tenured level, depending on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.
We welcome applications from outstanding early-career researchers, including new PhD graduates and doctoral candidates who expect to complete their PhD before the position begins, as well as established scholars with a strong record of high-quality research, academic publications, and competitive research funding.
The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching in areas such as Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Computational Fluid Dynamics, and Thermal-Fluid Systems. They will also be expected to develop an internationally recognized research program and secure funding through competitive national and international research programs.
Spanish language skills are not required. Our working language is English. Both our faculty and student body are highly diverse and international.

Candidates working at the intersection of these areas or applying multidisciplinary approaches to emerging challenges in energy, manufacturing, healthcare, and sustainability are strongly encouraged to apply.
We also value candidates with the capacity to collaborate in applied research projects led by the IEX Labs at IE School of Science and Technology, particularly in areas related to renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, environmental systems, and intelligent infrastructure. The ability to contribute to multidisciplinary research initiatives that apply fluid mechanics expertise to develop efficient, sustainable, intelligent, and resilient engineering systems will be key to the role’s success.
