Job Description

The Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia invites applications for a full-time Academic General Faculty (non-tenure track) professor to teach in its MBA degree programs. This faculty position will be affiliated with the Accounting Area and start in Fall 2027. Applicant review will begin October 1, 2026, and the position will remain open until filled.

At the Darden School, AGF are instrumental in carrying out the school’s mission to improve the world by developing responsible leaders through unparalleled transformational learning experiences. They do so by teaching business-relevant graduate courses, providing service to the community, writing cases and may conduct research. To facilitate these activities, productive candidates will have a research budget and the opportunity to apply for summer salary.

The Darden School offers face-to-face and blended-delivery instructional formats, with a calendar that includes sessions offered weekdays, evenings, and on weekends across all twelve months. Darden's full-time residential MBA degree is offered in Charlottesville, VA; its blended-delivery formats for working professionals (Part-Time MBA and Executive MBA) are offered in the Washington, DC Metro area (Rosslyn, VA). Candidates interested in teaching in either (or both) of the Charlottesville and Rosslyn locations are encouraged to apply. The position can be based out of either location.

Qualifications

The preferred candidate will be able to teach some combination of core courses in managerial and financial accounting and electives commonly offered in MBA programs. Interest in and ability to teach experienced executives across a wide range of sectors is preferred. Successful candidates will have demonstrated passion for, and ideally prior experience in, student-centered, case-based teaching and experiential learning. They will also have strong interest or experience in curriculum and course development for the courses they or others teach. At the time of hire, the candidate must hold a master's degree (or equivalent) from an accredited institution while a doctorate is preferred.
